My magnavox 45 esp jogproof CD player will not read any CDs...it spins the disk and the read head motor moves, yet the CD is always undetectable...with an error message saying "no disc." What can i do to repair it?

Most likely, you laser, Quadrant detector is faulty, if you replace that laser head assembly, most likely that will fix it. Anyways there is NO other way to troubleshoot... but for swapping out, for "Know Good". You need to get this unit looked at by a professional, ask for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repair.

if you can see the laser then gentaly with a soft cloth wipe the lens
and then try

if that doesnt work then i recoment that you call philips and see what they say because it is slightly older than one year they might replace it for free
if not call the shop that you bought it from

Hi,

Unplug the unit for few minutes, say 15 minutes and then plug it back and see if that helps. If that does not resolve the problem, this would confirm an internal problem and needs repair.

This is a common problem on these sets.What you might want to try is to run a CD player cleaner disc through it; if it is a problem caused by a dirty head or pickup, this sometimes helps. CD cleaner discs are available at Wal-mart or any electronics store.If this does not help, the CD player will need to be removed from the car and sent in to a service center to be repaired.

If there is any disc that remains stuck, there is a pinhole in the front of the DVD faceplate, use a paperclip -- insert and push in , with little force, -- bay door will open ( This option is applicable for most of the models ).
