According to a post on the Apple Community forum, some iPods may not connect to the Kenwood KDC-X993 car stereo via USB after upgrading to iOS 41. Unfortunately, there is no official update available from Kenwood to fix this issue. However, one user suggested trying DFU mode, which may allow you to step back down to a prior revision of iOS Ipod Touch will not connect to my Kenwood... - Apple Community
Hi If anything the stereo was probably designed and tested using a certain version of the Iphones software, now that version 4 has been released the way the IPhone communicates may have changed.
As a result the stereo is no longer able to talk to the phone and vice versa. your probably best off contacting Kenwood direct to see if they are aware of this problem and if there is anything that can be done about it.
Hi, if you are trying to get your I-pod to play through your car stereo, then you would need to have the RCA inputs, not outputs. If you connect your i-pod to the stereo outputs it won't work because both things are trying to push sound out of their outputs. If you connect the adapter to the stereo's inputs then it would work.
If you dont have an MP3 or Ipod input, then the best way is to buy an FM transmitter. This device plugs into your cigarette lighter and when connected to the Ipod will transmit the signal to the stereo unit. this device is actually like a micro radio station that you have to tune in on the Kenwood. These units are available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or online at Ebay, and Amazon.
iPod Adapter Compatible: Using the KCA-iP500 iPod Control Interface, you can connect your Apple iPod digital music player to this receiver. The interface (item # 113IP500) plugs into the receiver's 13-pin CD changer input and controls the iPod through the receiver's controls, as well as displays the iPod's text information right on the receiver's display.
