Hi bdaily,

There are two possible causes for your printer to always read "Initializing". First one is low-power problems exist and this is a common problem in many home offices because of the number of electronic devices concentrated in one area. The other one is,
if the computer is grounding out through the parallel or USB port. Here are the solutions you need to do to address the issue:

1. First, determine if the product uses a power cable or a power module for the power supply. If the power supply has a cable with electrical connections at each end, the product uses a power cable. If the power supply has a cable connected to a module or box, the product uses a power module.

2. Next, verify that the electrical connections and outlet are functioning.

a. If the product uses a power module, make sure that the power module part number is the same as the part number listed in the User's Guide to ensure that the correct power module is being used.

b. Unplug the power cable or power module from the electrical wall outlet.

c. Unplug the power cable or power module cable from any power strips or surge suppressors.

d. If the product uses a power module with a detachable power cord, unplug the cord from the power module, and then plug it back into the power module.

e. Disconnect the power cable or power module from the back of the product.

f. Wait at least 30 seconds, and then plug in the power cable or power module into the electrical wall outlet.

g. Connect the power cable or power module back into the product.

h. Turn the product on.

i. If the product still does not turn on, plug the product into an electrical wall outlet in another room.

If the product turns on, a problem exists with the power in the original room.

3. Verify that the product is not grounding out.

a. Turn the product off.

b. Disconnect the computer USB or parallel cable from the back of the product.

  1. Figure 3: USB connectionWhen i turn the machine - c00057172.jpg Figure 4: Parallel connectionc00057176.jpg
  2. Turn the product on.
  3. If the product turns on, replace the USB or parallel cable.
If you have completed all the preceding steps and are still experiencing a problem, the machine needs to be serviced by an authorized repairman or if it's still under warranty you may contact HP.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

LaserJet M2727nf initializes. Will print one page. Seems to "reboot" itself and gets stuck in the initialization process. I am left with the HP Logo being displayed with a couple of arrows in...

Is it still under warranty?
If yes call HP.
If no...you could have a bad formatter or DC Controller.
What step does it get stuck at in the init process?

My Sharp 1551CS has a "4" and "H" flashing in the quantity indicator. Copier appears frozen.......HELP!!!

To reset the H4 condition on Sharp AL series copiers press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
Some model's use 2 other initial codes, so you may need to use one of these 2 alternate codes to get your display to go blank. The rest of the procedure is the same.
Alternate codes are: #, * , C, * or pound,star,C,star and also
#, Interupt, C, Interupt
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
If the code comes back this means you have a heater lamp or thermal fuse (more common) failure in the fusing area and will need service. Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya. WheatlandServices
