I have an issue with my ps3 slim 250 gb, when i insert a disc into the system it does not load the first time, it makes an odd clicking ejeccted disc sound and will not load. I have to eject and reinsert the disc 3 to 7 times before it appears and loads. This happens with all ps3 game and blue ray discs. My disc aren'n dirty or scratched, nor is my console dirty, its fairly new. Please help.

Theres Nothing wrong with any of the disc its problem in your PS3 Dust has accumulated in it and may have destroyed your lens first try cleaning lens with a lens cleaner then watch video on YouTube how to clean your ps3

If your system will not take a disc, then you most likely have a faulty disc loader. I would recommend contacting Sony for repairs.

Check the PS3's vents or its location if the power button alternately flashing red and green. This means it is running hot. Shut it off and wait for it to cool down.

Shut down the system if the power button flashes red and fails to operate. This means it has overheated and has reached a critical phase. Move it to another location where the vents are not blocked and it isn't in an enclosed area. Don't restart it until it cools down.

Open your PS3's disc tray and spray the inside of the machine with some compressed air, which comes either in a can or in a squeeze ball. This air will help remove any larger particles of dust or dirt that may have accumulated on the machine's lens.

Insert the cleaning CD into the disc tray and close it. These CDs often have no data on them and instead have a small brush along the bottom that cleans the laser as it spins over it.

Follow any on-screen instructions or paper instructions that may have been included with your lens-cleaning CD until the laser has been successfully cleaned, and then remove the CD.

Restore the PS3 to its default settings if the PS3 isn't able to read any discs. Go to "Settings," and then "System Settings." Under "System Settings," select "Restore Default Settings" and press the "X" button on your controller to restore the settings. Once the operation has been completed, the initial setup screen will appear.

Check to see whether the machine will load games or DVDs properly. If it still doesn't, you may have an internal hardware issue that requires sending your machine to Sony for professional repairs.

He is full of **** trying to scam you. It sounds like your disc drive is out of alignment with the top part of the disc drive so the clicking your hearing is the bottom of your disc drive trying to eject and the top is holding its on as the top has sliding parts that meet perfectly with the bottom part of the disc drive so it sucks the game in and out. You need to open it yourself with a philips head screwdriver you dont have to worry about the motherboard or any other part just take the drive out undo the ribbons connect the drive to the motherboard then it should pop right out. Been awhile since I took a slim apart they dont break as often (yet). From here you should have a metal caseing over the disc drive maybe not with the slim. You pop the metal caseing off the you have a plastic disc drive. Take the top part off maybe requires small phillips screw driver. Since you have a disc in it when you take the lid off hook the cables back to the ps3 motherboard and to the cd drive. Now press eject with the top lid off. Then put the top lid back on and insert a disc it should work. Then just put it back together. Theres a little motherboard on that cd drive do not short it out on anything. You can do this if you cant worst is youll have to buy a new cd drive from the repair shop you mentioned. Then they should charge to much labor to put it back together as you had it apart when you got there. But you should beable to do it if you need help taking it apart just google or youtube slim ps3 disc drive repair or how to take apart slim ps3. Hope this helps if not let me know.

1. First shut down the system by flipping the power switch in the back off.
2. Hold down the eject disc button.
3. While still holding down the eject button, flip the power switch to turn back on your PS3.
4. When the green light comes on, wait a few seconds then tap the eject button a couple times. The fan will run on full power and the disc will eject.

you have to change your laser lens, thats probably what's wrong since your ps3 does not recognize the game when you insert it, you can chage it your self by buying a new laser lens for your ps3 if you do make sure to specify your playstation3 system i.e: Playstation 3 80gb or Playstation 3 SLIM 250 gb

i have got the same problem, you can either get a new blue ray lens and fit it yourself or give sony a ring and they will change your console for you.

The only way to fix it is to open up the disc drive and reset the the mechanism that sets the disc with the laser. As the system draws the disc in, it also raises the laser unit that is hooked to a gear driven mechinism. Sometimes when dropped, kicked, smacked...etc, the gears can come off of alignment. It's a pain to repair but really not that hard. You really need some patience and a to be carefull not to damage anything. Hope this helps.
