Replaced yellow LC41Y ink catridge. Machine keeps repeating "replace ink catridge" How do I correct this? Please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks, Ed
It keeps saying "near empty yellow" - even though I just replaced the cartridge w/new one and it wouldn't print yellow at all. I repeated the cleaning process several times and shutting down the printer didn't make any difference.

as you repalced please check the following.
1.check weather the catridge is been placed correctly and in correct position
2.when you get a new catridge there is a protective cover placed in the outlel of the catridge so please check weather you remoced that protective coating.
3.the outlet may be blocked by the old ink which got dried up. so please clean the outlet of the catridge and try once
Light/faint prints usually are a result from clogged ink or air bubbles between the cartridge and print head (thus changing cartridge wont fix problem). Try printing the test page print from the machine (Ink Management -> set/ok twice). Answer the question(s) in the display and repeat this up to five times. The colors should be improved after 1-3 test prints usually.
The usual obvious fix is to buy a new catridge, insert, power off
machine, then switch back on to reset any sensors. But if the circuitry
on the machine itself is faulty it wont fix it.
I used to own an MFC 260C. It had a perfectly good full ink
catridge in it, that was working fine, until...it suddenly did not
recognise the cartridge anymore.
I pulled the machine apart and found that 2 of the 4 sensors on the
cct board at the back of the cartridge housing were loose. These
sensors pass light through the exposed part of the cartridge to see if
ink is there. So if these are faulty, you will never clear the "No
Cartridge" or "Ink Empty..." or "Near Empty Ink ..." messages on the
MFC260C and prbably other similar printers in the MFC range.
Why did they fail? Because the soldering on these sensors was poor quality.
I would never buy another Brother machine because of this, also
because they design the machine to be totally useless unless all the ink ccartridges
are full. Shame on you Brother, and kiss my *** for the $160 pile of
junk I bought off you that was only on its second batch of cartridges
(ie very little use)
Which cart arent recognized? The yellow one or the cyan(blue) one or both?
Anyway:
Unplug machine from power. Wait three minutes. In this time take all carts out and close cover. reconnect machine to power. Machine demands carts. Open cover. Reinsert carts. Make sure that the support clip of the cart.holder is secured above the cart cover.
If you still have probs with one cart. the led contact on the circuit board is defectiv. You need a new cart holder then, which can be ordered as a spare part from a service partner near your home (see brother homepage).
Compatible carts do make a lot of trouble. One point is the draining! The ink has flown into the cart assy and beyond that to the bottom of the printer. As long as you can print without problems you dont have to do anything. If the test pages wont show the correct color you have to open the printer and to clean the assy and the bottom.
Do use original ink carts though these wont drain and give correct info to printer. You can very simple refill them with dye ink. Dye ink only!!!
