You need to replace your lower Y drive board. Looking at the back of the set it is the board on the far left, bottom of the two. Should be about $50.00.

One solution said the Zsus board for fuzziness, You are saying the Y drive board. Do you think both boards are bad?

The Z Sus will never cause half of the picture to go out.

Black screen on HP PL4260N 42? Plasma HDTV

The problem is the "Y-SUS" board. It is inside the set on the left side with several aluminum heat sinks, under the left side brace bar. You can order this board from Union Electronics at www.ued.com .Search for part number: TNPA3243AB-PA

It lists for about 115$

BLACK BAR

I had the same problem and HP has been very helpful, try calling this number 877-917-4380 ext. 79 and be firm tell them this needs to be fixed. They are sending my second replacement part and said they will keep sending parts till it works, this tv is almost 3 years old.

Just to update this issue, HP has now agreed to replace my plasma free of charge, they dont know how to fix it and after a couple of tries they gave up and I'll get my new one next Friday. For all of those trying , keep trying and don't give up, don't take no for an answer. Comment posted on Feb 04, 2009Just an Update here, My new plasma arrived on Monday free of charge, no shipping, no money at all, works like it did when new. Call HP with the number listed and let them have a piece of your mind, you will get results.
