V, Inc. Vizio P50HD Plasma Television Logo

My vizio p50hdm made a popping sound from the rear. Afterwards, the picture disappeared and tv screen was black (as if the power was off). Then within a minute the picture reappeared but looked real dull with a weird contrast. I disconnected power cord, turned off/on the tv, and the picture remains dull. Tv has been this way for almost a month. In order to repair, I have to pay an estimate of $600, including parts and labor. Please HELP!

The z-sustain board is bad. One of the the heat sinks on the board is cool to the touch. These had LG circuit boards and the number on the sticker, on the board, was a good LG part number. The part numbers were 6871QZH044A.

Do a search on the internet with Google, Yahoo, or Ebay with this part number. The board unplugs and the new one plugs back up. Not an advanced technical repair. Unplug the set and take the back off and match the picture on Ebay with the one in your set. And especially match the part numer.

Since you have some picture the Y-sustain and the buffer boards should be good especially if the fuses on the Y-sustain are still good. The Y-sustain is the larger board to the left looking from the back. Check the fuses on it. The buffer boards are the long two boards to the far left looking from the back of the set. If there is a blown fuse on the Y-sustain you must replace it AND both upper and lower buffer boards as well as the Z-sustain which is the larger board to the far right looking from the back of the set. Be sure to check the fuses in the Y-sustain before installing the Z-sustain. The part numbers should be on each board beginning like 6871...

I have a Vizio p50hdm while watching heard a pop noise and tv went out cant turn back on.I replaced main board and power board and still doesn't come on any Ideas?

The power amplifier chip (which goes "pop" when it goes bad) may be located on the board where the IR sensor is. Sometimes (but not always) you can make the TV come on by holding the power button in _until_ the TV comes on. But that usually only works when the chip is "going" bad. If you heard the pop, it's probably shot. Also, check for a fuse on _any_ of the boards, and possibly a main fuse at the back of the TV.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis.

Picture went out on p50hdm Vizio Plazma tv after loud POP

It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.

VIZIO BLACK SCREEN

That problem is the Ysus board, Sometimes people will replace the Zboard at the same time. If you bought it at costco a couple of years ago you are in luck costco will refund your purchase price, costco has changed the return policy and newer tv's are not refunded, but something to look into
