If you have windows vista or later:
Open the folder containing the files you copied from the CD, go to my computer, right click the cd drive with the blank cd, hit open.
Then just drag an drop the copied files into the blank cd
If xp or earlier:
The easiest way is to use a cd burning program (i recommend: http://www.nero.com/enu/)

Transfer info from this computer to my new comp. things like Pictures Music.

Copy all your data from the old computer onto a blank CD, blank DVD, or onto a USB flash drive, or external hard drive. Then copy it to the new computer.

When both computers are in the same location, you can use an Ethernet cable to transfer information between machines. If you don’t have a hub, router, or switch, look for a crossover cable to complete the process.

Trying to copy some pics onto a cd to get some disc space but my drive wont recognise the cd rw

do you have a cd writer or rom drive is the first thing you have to check, if it's a writer then put the disc in first and it should give you an option to write files to cd accept then follow the the instruction to add your files, assuming your running windows. iif that does'nt work check to see if your discs are + or - it may be your wriiter will only accept one kind

I tried to make an exact copy of a CD via Sony Vaio but the copy is messed up. Certain cuts sound scratched. The original CD is clean and plays normally. Does my CD drive need fixing? It (software)...

What type of CD did you copy? Different CD types have different methods for copying them (Example: a music CD has multiple tracks to copy; better to rip them then reburn them onto a blank disk; a DVD disk has multiple data, video and audio files protected on the disk, a straight copy wont work). Based on your question, you tried copying a music CD. Use a program like Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or iTunes to rip the disk, then copy the ripped tracks to a blank disk. All three of these programs are free, and there are tons of other free alternatives out there to do this.

I have just brought a new pack of blank CD's, i am

Its a common problem with CDs. Check that your CD drive can PLAY CDs. If so either the CD drives optical head is dirty or your CD pack are low quality. CDs damage real easy. Try putting another CD, another brand or you must use CD doctor-something like that. Did that help

Copy to a blank CD

It's possible that the CD burning service isn't running on your computer.

Click Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services

Scroll down in the list to "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service" and double click on it. Make sure it is set to Automatic. If it isn't currently running, click "Start."

Also, if you right-click on the CD drive in My Computer, and select properties, is there a Recording tab there? If there is, click on the tab and make sure that "Enable CD Recording" is checked. If the Recording tab is NOT there, please let me know.
