I have a Lexmark X1185 (print trio). I also just purchased a new computer with Vista as my operating system. Since the new computer - I can no longer use the scanner or the copier. It prints fine. I do not have disks and have gone to the Lexmark site to get the most recent update and still I can not scan or copy. Any help would be appreciated. Lexmark 1185 printer on new computer with vista. will print but not scan or copy. I don't have the disks.

This is a compatability issue so try to uninstall the driver which you have installed already and try to install the drivers from the following link..They ar Vista compatable Drivers for your Printer..

I use an X1185 Print Tio, so I know what a pain it is with Vista. Try this drive for use with Vista. Took me a minute, but I found it.

Check under device manager if the scaner driver for the device is installed properly, if not try to updaet it from device manager..and let the wizard look for the updated software for it..

I had the same problem. Fixed it by reinstalling the drivers for the motherboard (USB drivers in particular). Hope this helps.

Thanks Lolita - Lexmark was my first port of call. i got the driver, then needed to get winzip extractor. Got that, now I can print. Just can scan or copy. thanks for your suggestion :)
Originally the printer would print, scan and copy (hence 3 in 1 - i get it!) then when i got a new laptop it would still do all three but not send scans to word (forget what that is called!) but would only turn scan into a picture. Now i have a newer laptop with the dreaded vista and i can only print (which is better than nothing and better than I had before downloading the driver from lexmark and then purchasing a winzip extractor!!).
Thanks for the suggestion, the device manager just said the device was working properlly - i wasn't sure how to find out about the scanner/copier functions of the printer.
