HI, our Zebra 4m+ is currently set to a Darkness of 30 as that seems to eb th eonly way it will print enough detail on the label.
We have tried adjusting the pressure settings to no avail.
Now we are finding the print can be scratched off the label even thouhg we are using tamper proof labels and resin ribbons.
Any sugggestions will be most welcome
Re: HI, our Zebra 4m+ is currently set to a Darkness of...
Full resin ribbons tend to require higher darkness settins on all thermal printers.
It could be a mismatch between label and ribbon. This would need to be looked by your supplier.
A darkness setting of 30 is the max on this printer and will result in ruining the printhead. I would have the printhead parallelism checked with an authorized tech.A darkness setting of 30 is the max on this printer and will result in ruining the printhead. If the printer still going to darkness 30, chek if you forgot to save or check the driver settings and change.
Last option Resect to Factory Defult (this drop darkness to +10)
Your description is not very specific but no printing can be the result of: 1. The darkness is not set high enough 2. The ribbon is loaded backwards 3. You are trying to do direct thermal printing (no ribbon) but the label stock is not direct thermal stock.
The DARKNESS setting controls the amount of ink released to the label. The 105 has a range of 1-30, 1 is the lightest - 30 is the darkest. The setting used will depend on the combination of label / ribbon used. There is no "correct" number, always try to use the lowest setting with acceptable print quality.
The DARKNESS can be adjusted from the front panel by pressing SETUP and changing or DARKNESS can be controlled from the software or printer driver. The printer driver or software usually overrides the setting in the printer.
In your label software there should be a setting option for print darkness (I assume it adjusts the head temperature) In ours (bartender) you can get to it when you select 'print' and a window appears with a 'documents properties' button. Click on this and select options and a darkness bar appears which you can adjust. You may also need to slow the label print speed if the darkness adjustment is not enough. I suspect it isn't in the printers best interest to run the print head at maximum darkness/heat so a sensible balance of darkness and print speed is best.
Another, less likely, possibility is an incompatability between the label material or surface finish, and the ribbon type. We did have a problem once whem Homebase changed their price label design and we had to test a load of other ribbon types until we got one that did the job. A chat with the label or ribbon supplier is always usefull, they sent us several sample bits to test.
go to printer driver properties..
1.click printing preferences set it to USE PRINTER CONFIGURATION
2.go to advance click Printing Defaults set it to USE PRINTER CONFIGURATION
you must set this two configuration
note: fresh installed driver defaulth to software control
You need the correct driver for the 105Se. The 300 dpi SL driver is not compatible.
Unfortunately, Zebra does not make it's older drivers available online. You will need to locacte someone with the correct driver for whichever version of Windows you are using.
You must make sure that the ribbon is compatible with the label you are attempting to print on. It must be a permanent resin. We use the AXR7+ material. Try to avoid using such a high printer head temperature as this will reduce the life of the head.
