Cannot connect ti Wi-Fi. Message says obtaining ip address but as soon as a remembered message on wi-fi network, wi-fi disconnects and starts scanning again. This process repeats itself but never connects to the wi-fi. I have followed samsung's advice by removing the sd card and battery but this has made no difference.

Do you have other devices such as tablets, notebook, PC, or smart devices on the same Wi-Fi network? Do they have a similar problem?

Try logging on to a different Wi-Fi network such as free services in some shops and stores. If you cannot connect anywhere, your phone may be bad.

SOURCE: about wi-fi

Windows XP has a built in wifi configuration tool, previous versions of windows dont have this feature. But if you were to buy a wireless card it comes with software for wireless to work on all versions of windows from 98 - XP most if not all new laptops have wifi built in & that will be able to share your broadband connection through the netgear router. You can configure the laptop & pc to share files & printer between each other, easy way of doing that is by using the wireless network setup wizard which can be found in Start -> All Prograns -> Accessories -> Communications -> Wireless Network Setup Wizard.

SOURCE: Wi-Fi problem Toshiba A15-S157 laptop

If your laptop has a di-fi switch/button chances are you have one integrated on the main board of the laptop, check if the wi-fi adapter is installed properly by going to the Device Manager and check Network Adapters normally a wi-fi adapter will show up if not check if you have any devices listed under network devices(Network Controller, Ethernet Controller). Now if the wi-fi card is installed and the status on the Device Manager say's that it's working properly, you may now check your laptop for a 3rd pary wi-fi utility/application that manages your connection look for it on the System Tray on the lower right hand side near the clock or go to all programs and look for any WLAN utility, when you open the utility make sure the wi-fi radio is turned on or enabled.

SOURCE: i can not remember my wi-fi password. i need it to

If you have tried the default passwords (blank, admin or sysAdmin) and they don't work, you will need to reset it back to factory settings. You can do this by finding a hole at the back of the unit and pressing the hidden switch there for a few seconds. After that it should be back to its original configuration. You will obviously have lost any changes you made to it since you took it out of the box.

Wi-fi not obtaining IP address and if turn off wi-fi can not get to turn back on

Assuming you're trying to connect via wireless router. If you connect, but then aren't able to get to the Internet. I would something is wrong between the router to the modem to the wall (DSL/Cable modem) rather then your tablet device. You can connect your device to your router and you device will show it has a wifi connection, but beyond the router something may be amiss. Try seeing what you get from another device like computer or laptop. That might get you closer to your actual issue,

My wifi stop working,i dont know why???

Solutions to Common Android WI-Fi ProblemsFriends of mine who use an Android come over to me usually with problems related to their devices' Wi-Fi connectivity. Moreover, it's not a single isolated issue. There are all kinds of them they bring up. I usually fix their problem after few troubleshoots but today while I was fixing a problem on my device, I realized that it could happen to any one - even to my readers on Guiding Tech. Hence we are going to discuss four of the most common Android Wi-Fi problems and see the probable causes and solutions to them.
Android Cannot Scan a Wi-Fi Network Reason
There may be two reasons as to why your Android cannot scan a network automatically. The first reason may be that the network you are trying to connect to could be Ad-Hoc in nature. As most of the Android phones are not configured to work on Ad-Hoc networks but on access points, they don't scan them.
The second reason may be that the Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect to might be hidden for security reasons.
Solution
By default, Android does not support Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi network but many developers patch the wpa_supplicant file on Android in order for them to work. If you do a quick Google search you will be able to find if there's a fix available for your device but the fix can only be performed on a rooted phone. Furthermore, don't forget to back up your original wpa_supplicant file if at all your phones goes into foreclose or boot loops.
ad55c1b5-6c69-4c6f-bbc4-42d71b214047.png
If the problem is with the hidden network, you can try to add the network manually. In Android Wi-Fi settings open menu and tap to add a network manually. You must enter the correct SSID and authentication type and password in order to connect to the network. If both the credentials are correct, the Android phone will be able to connect to the network.
Wi-Fi Keeps Disconnecting Frequently Reason
The most obvious reason for the problem may be with the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy which disconnects your Wi-Fi every time your Android goes to sleep to save your battery's juice.
Solution
To manage Wi-Fi Sleep Policy, open Advance Wi-Fi settings on Android and tap the option Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep. Here, check the option Always to enjoy an uninterrupted connectivity, but you will have to compensate it with your battery life.
75ca1d6c-6a65-4f45-a239-1e913ecb07bc.png
If you are using any third-party app to save your battery, check if it's controlling your Wi-Fi and other radio services and configure accordingly.
Obtaining IP Address Infinite Loop Reason
I don't know the exact reason behind this, but it might be a bug in Android. I have seen many people getting this problem, and it gets kind of annoying when the problem does not gets fixed even after restarting the device.
Solution
First of all, you must restart your Wi-Fi router and see if that helps. Many people say that resetting the phone to factory state works but that's not an appropriate solution. Wi-Fi Fixer is an amazing Android app that can help you here. The app resets your Wi-Fi system files (same as when you reinstall the Wi-Fi drivers in Windows, or you disable and enable the Wi-Fi adapter) and services and helps you to connect to the network and obtain the IP address.

There may be several reasons as to why you are not able to connect to the internet even when you are connected to the Wi-Fi. The reasons may be:
    • The router is not broadcasting internet services.
    • The IP address or the gateway is wrong.
    • Problem with the DNS settings.
    Solutions
You may use another device to check if the router is actually broadcasting internet. Also you can configure the IP address, the gateway and DNS manually to connect as their might be problems with DHCP.
Conclusion These are pretty much most of the Android problems one might encounter on his device and the probable solution one can try to fix the problem. I don't guarantee that you will fix the problem but it's a good start nonetheless. And most of the solutions should work actually.

Thanks .

Hoe can i connect my ipone to wiifi on my belkin router

Wi-Fi settings determine whether iPhone uses local Wi-Fi networks to connect to the Internet.
Turn Wi-Fi on: Choose Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on.
Join a Wi-Fi network: Choose Wi-Fi, wait a moment as iPhone detects networks in range, then select a network. If necessary, enter a password and tap Join (networks that require a password appear with a lock icon).
Once you join a Wi-Fi network manually, iPhone automatically joins it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, iPhone joins the one last used. When iPhone is joined to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows signal strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the signal. Set iPhone to ask if you want to join a new network: Choose Wi-Fi and turn "Ask to Join Networks" on or off. Join a closed Wi-Fi network: To join a Wi-Fi network that isn't shown in the list of scanned networks, choose Wi-Fi > Other, then enter the network name. If the network requires a password, tap Security, tap the type of security the network uses, and enter the password. You must already know the network name, password, and security type to connect to a closed network. Some Wi-Fi networks may require you to enter or adjust additional settings, such as a client ID or static IP address. You can type it manually by login onto the Belkin's network page using the browser and by copying the static and dynamic IP address.

I cant connect to WiFi with my blackberry bold. it shows "Failed to obtain an IP address"

Hi, this issue is caused when message authentication code (MAC) address filtering is enabled on the Wi-Fi network, and the MAC address of the BlackBerry smartphone is not accepted.
To resolve this issue, add the MAC address of the BlackBerry smartphone to the accepted MAC address list for the Wi-Fi network.
I hope this information may help you to resolve the issue.
