I would first look at why the alarm is going off without disconnecting it, you could have a seal issue with the freezer in which the door is not closeing properly or you could also have a defrost issue with the unit which would also trigger the alarm Diagnoseing what the issue is is the first thing that should be done not just unplugging the alarm and ignoreing there is an actual problem most of the time when these issues are ignored you end up paying for it in the long run. I would look further into why you are getting the alarm I await your reply if you have any further questions Thanks Rick

if the sides of the freezer are warm this most likely means your compressor fan is not running when this happens the sides due get very warm and eventually hot take off the rear panel in the back of the machine and assure that the compressor fan is running if not replace the fan and turn the unit off if the fan is not working you will burn out the compressor if the fan is not running If you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick

Hi,

Freezer alarms indicate two things: The door is not closed correctly; The temperature is warmer than -12 degrees.

The alarm can be visual ( red warning light), in either case it can happen if you have just filled your freezer with loads of fresh unfrozen food, however the alarm should self cancel after approx 20 mins as the freezer chills the fresh food and the warm air, down. A persistent alarm should be investigated by a fridge engineer as soon as possible, any food defrosting below -8 degrees is definitely suspect as far as refreezing is concerned. Where a failed thermostat causes the alarm the food will totally defrost, where a gas system is inefficient it's possible to have an intermittent alarm. The freezer should maintain a temperature between 0-5 degrees and if it gets above 15 degrees, the alarm will sound. This could be a thermostat problem, if it's keeping the compressor off too long. If the compressor is not running and it's warm inside the cabinet, turn the thermostat to a colder setting. If the compressor comes on, the thermostat will need to be replaced. If the compressor still won't run, check if it's hot but be careful. If the compressor is hot, the problem can be with the start kit or the compressor has failed. Another possibility is if the compressor is running but there is not a full frost pattern on all the shelves, it indicates problem in the seal system. Whichever cause happens, it will need a thorough checkup and repair by an engineer.

Frigidaire upright freezer

Hello Susan, thank you for your post!

Did your freezer previously experience a power loss? If the temperature of food rises to an unsafe level, the buzzer will sound and the red light, if equipped, will also glow. First, deactivate the alarm to your appliance by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker. Wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on your freezer. After deactivating the alarm and your freezer has run approximately four hours, the red light/alarm should go off on its own. If the red light/alarm continues to stay on, your freezer may possibly have a communication problem with the control board, temperature control or a wiring harness. If this is the case, I would recommend connecting with an experienced technician to determine the underlying cause.

Hello Michael - Sounds like the temperature control was accidently turned OFF. When this occurs the temperature control turns off the compressor, but does not disconnect the power to the light bulb or other electronics. Let's try activating the freezer by pressing the UP arrow until display shows "4" or desired setting. Allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize. For future reference you can lock the control to keep from accidently changing the temperature setting. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if the unit's status has changed successfully. Thank you.

Frigidaire Upright freezer with Beeping Display

First make sure you have a good 9v battery installed. If it is ok then the problem will probably be in the display board or the wiring connectors between the boards. CE is communication error. If your model has the electronic tempature control instead of mechanical thermostat the problem could be in there. My bet is a bad connection at display board.
