LCD and EVF will both come on but they appear black and a little "snowy" like an unavaible channel on analog TV. (Lens cap is off.) The LCD will still show old pictures in review mode with no problems, so the screen itself is good. The camera will take pictures and videos, but they appear "black" when you review them. It just won't display what I'm trying to take a picture of.
The problem is the lens is not opening, If you look into the lens you can see it is closed. This will require a trip to the repair shop.
I had the same problem...lens not opening. When Old Jack said it will require a trip the the repair shop I figured that I would try my hand at fixing it. I turned on the camera and as is went through it's opeining cycle I quickly (and somewhat forcefully) tapped it on a desk the whole time it was opeining. Sure enough it is working perfectly now.

How much would you think a repair job on this would cost?
