Dear Mike, sorry to tell u that I have the same problem. All I try failed already . Send to olympus but all they say is that they have to make a software reset by profesionals and it cost 152,00 Euro. That is a really basd service, no more olympus. the problem should be known.peter
The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. My issue was with the other connector (mini hdmi, I think). I was on holiday without any tools so ended up using a metal nail file to discover the shorting problem. Nail file and t-shirt cleaned the connector enough to get camera working.
Have now folded a few layers of clingfilm / plastic wrap and added that as a bit of an extra seal to the door's own rubber seal.
OK,
I had the same problem with my 3000, I took it to the beach and after
taking 3 pictures it showed the "NO CONNECTION" screen. I tried all of
the "RESET" steps with no solution.
After
a week I tried cleaning it and noticed that there was a small blue
build up inside the USB port so I used a thin soft cloth and a really
thin screwdriver to try and clean the port. I turned the camera on and I
heard the shutter move and finally the camera worked fine. Also, I
cleaned it while the camera was on and noticed that by moving the
screwdriver the "no connection" screen would pop back up.
I
realized that the seal must have been faulty and allowed the sea water
to seep in just enough for the USB port to "short out" and make the
camera think that there's a USB cable plugged in hence the shutter will
not move when the NO CONNECTION screen pops up.... Now, I know this
is probably not the best method, its the only way to do it with out
having to pay for repairs or replacement. The warranty is voided because
OLYMPUS can always say we were at fault for not ensuring the case was
closed properly.
Once a week, I climb a mountain and shout for all the world to hear...."the only truly waterproof camera is one in a specially-designed plastic waterproof housing. Any point and shoot camera that says it's waterproof WILL LEAK! You just don't know when."
Unfortunatly the Olympus 6020 does not hav a dedicated hardreset switch, nor a key sequence to initiate reset. So if you cant get into the camera menu, and reset the camera from there. Or if that does not work. The camera has to be serviced by proffesionals.
