Who ever told you that is a ****, start n stop are tied into the power of the turntables motor etc. if you plug the turntable in turn it on n hit start. it should start. if not who ever sold it to you made a BS lie to get rid of them cause the motor was burnt out. start n stop have nothing to do with the mixer what so ever. so try just hooking up the turntable and turn the power on. see if anything lights up then his the start button and see if the platter starts to move if not its your motor.
