Zoom error Today after using my camera for awhile the back screen displayed "zoom error" and a little sound whirled. Then the camera shut off by itself. I turned it on and off a couple of times, but without success. The lens is extended and will not withdraw back into the camera. I have taken out the batteries and re-inserted them. Finally, I gently pushed the lenses back to the body of the camera (as they seemed to be trying to go back to the camera), I am still getting the zoom error reading and the zoom button is not responding. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Oh, by the way, I was at the ocean when this happened and have checked to see if sand might have blown around the lense obstructing it from retracting.

You may be true that sand must be creating this problem, as this happens very often. the sand enters into the lense assembly, creating friction in the movement. if this has happened total dismantelling and cleaning of the lense assembly will solve the problem, but that has to be done by an expert at the repair shop.

ZOOM ERROR

the spare parts won't be so much, if you try and fix it yourself, you will save a ton of money otherwise it could be around $100 to send it in and get it fixed. You can start finding the problem by opening the screws on the bottom/back of the camera and find what gears are jammed and won't zoom. or I can get you a number to call to send it in, thanks

Let me know what you want to do

I receive the E:61:00 error on screen, and the screen will not focus. I shook the camera around (per forums) and the screen focused for a minute, but would not zoom in out out. When I tried to zoom either...

Hi,

The E:61:00 error code displayed on the Camera screen indicates that a Camera malfunction that you cannot reverse has occurred. This seems to be an internal malfunction of the Camera. You may try power resetting the Camera. To power reset the Camera, turn off the Camera and remove the battery pack. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Remain the Camera without power for 60 seconds and reinsert the battery.
If the issue persists, service may be required as this is an internal malfunction

Zoom not working E61:10

Zoom motor in camera lens mechanism is stuck due to **** etc. You need to open camera, take out camera lens section and check zoom motor.

Do the above if you know basic electronics and have little experience of camera repair.
If don't, contact Sony Service to fix the camera.

Fuji FinePix S700 Problem

Try to put it on super macro and see if this will reset the zoom function.
Also try to switch between the settings that allow the digital zoom, as compaired to those settings that only allow optical zoom.
If these do not work, you may have a lens that has been dropped, or is stuck, and may need to be serviced. I have the S700, and have never seen this error before> good luck.

Zoom Error

We had this problem for about 2 weeks, we discovered that having the camera auto retracted after the "ZOOM ERROR" message, giving the camera couples of light slaps (slap the camera's LCD side and aim the camera down), this fixed the camera right away

Broken Zoom on Fuji Finepix F470

Try turning the power on and gently pulling the lens outward as it powers up. This may force the gears to re-align themselves. Use "fingertip" pressure only. Don't force it excessively. Also try turning on, and then applying slight pressure to the front of the lens while you power it off. You can also try rotating the lens barrel segments while it powers up or shuts off. Sometimes either can get the lens back on track.
