I have seen this issue alot of times. Please make sure you wireless card is turned on. Sometimes the switch is on the front or the sides or you may have to push a function button + a wireless button. Take a look at you owners manual to be sure

  1. Choose a laptop or WiFi device that is currently connected to your network. If none of your devices are connected, use an Ethernet cable and connect a computer or laptop directly to your wireless gateway.
  2. Open a web browser and go to the Admin Tool (http://10.0.0.1) - this is the wireless gateway's administration site. The default settings are:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: password (case-sensitive)
      how6361image002.png
    • Note: If you changed your Admin Tool password previously, you will need to use your new login information. If you don't remember your Admin Tool password, you will need to factory reset your wireless gateway. Instructions on how to do this can be found by reviewing the wireless gateway user guides at Wireless Gateway Guides.
  3. On the left navigation menu, select Gateway, then Connection and then Wi-Fi.
    how6361image003.png
  4. Under Private Wi-Fi Network, you'll see the Name (SSID) of your WiFi network. (You may want to write down this information.)
    • Wireless Gateway 1 customers, click EDIT at the right.
    • Wireless Gateway 2 customers, click EDIT for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to view the settings for each. ?

  5. Check the box next to Show Network Password. The Network Password (Network Key) will be displayed above. (You may want to write down this information.)

    • On this page, you can also edit your wireless network information, including changing your Network Name (SSID) or Password (Network Key). If you make any changes, remember to click SAVE SETTINGS.
  6. Now that you have your Network Name (SSID) and Password (Network Key), you can connect your WiFi devices to your network.
  7. If you have changed any information, use the new information to reconnect all your WiFi devices to your network.

I cannot connect to my belkin connect n150 router after enabling it as an access point. Green light shows up on router and wireless network shows up but no connection when clicked. I cant connect via

Pretty sure you have to have at least one router in gateway mode to connect to the internet. An AP allows wireless devices to connect to a wired segment. The same as a router in gateway mode. AP mode has the benefit of extending a networks wireless range. If this is your only device leave it in gateway mode.

How do I extend wireless coverage?

Extend the range of WiFi signals with Hardware If your router is placed on the ground floor of your home, the Wi-Fi signals will be very weak or may not even reach the basement computer or the printer upstairs. The situation will be no different if you work in a fairly large premises or if there are too many walls in the area.
In that case, here are some hardware device that you can consider to extend the reach of your Wi-Fi network:
wifi_repeater_thumb.jpgOption #1. You can attach a WiFi Repeater (also known as Wireless Range Expander) to your router and quickly expand the coverage of your wireless network without using any cables.
The Repeater should be placed within the range of your existing router and it will reflect the signals to other areas where the wireless reception was earlier poor (or totally absent). The Repeater can connect wirelessly to both routers and access points (see #3 below).
Option #2. (This is my current setup) You can get another wireless router and connect it to your existing router using an Ethernet cable. The advantage is that this setup comes pretty cheap and the Internet speed stays almost the same even for computers that are accessing the web via the new router.
You can get a 100 feet long Ethernet Cable (also known as Cat5 or LAN or RJ45 cable) for less than $10 and wireless routers start at $20. Here's a detailed guide on how you can connect two routers together.
Option #3. You also have the option to use an Access Point instead of a router to extend the WiFi range but that's often not required because Wireless Access Points can be more expensive than equivalent routers.
The other advantage with a router is that is has extra LAN ports so, in future, you can connect more wired computers for sharing files or you Internet connection.
Option #4. If you have an old desktop or laptop computer, you should consider adding an external (USB based) wireless adapter or upgrade the internal network card to improve the wireless reception (and thus Internet speed).

My Toshiba satellite laptop constantly cant find networks even though it is within the 50 ft. Radius

From my experience with Toshibas is that the internal wifi cards are cheesy. They don't get the range that say a Dell does. Also WiFi extends 100 yards in a straight line and about 35 feet around the router. You might just have to move closer or get a good USB adapter.

I cant get internet on my ipod touch when i am conected to wi-fy

This error means you're not connected to an internet-enabled network. If you want to surf the internet, you'll need to connect to a wireless network; you do that by going into Settings, then Wi-Fi.

If the WiFi option is off, press it to turn it on and it'll scan for near by networks. Once you find one that is unprotected, or one to which you know the password, you can connect to it by pressing its name. Once you connect, if that network allows for internet access, you can surf.

If you don't have any wireless networks within range, you can always set one up yourself. You can do it either with a wireless router, which will give you a permanent access point you can use whenever you feel like, or using a laptop - but that's difficult, not permanent, and has a very short signal range (Though it's free if you already have a laptop with a wi-fi card).

Cant connect to wireless network

hi
i think you are continuing with an old question, instead of posting this as a new query again you can go to the old query and post these as comments to comtinue with the old

happy to help though, anyways lets me try n reply

could be couple reasons

just to check first have you enabled the wireless on the two laptops ;p

check on what channel the router and the laptops are communicating this you would find on the CONFIGURE settings of the wificard on the laptop

on the properties tab of the network settings go to the Wireless Networks tab and there just above the OK n Cancel buttons u would see an ADVANCED button click on that to see if the radio buttn is set to any available network

then in the Prefered Networks area if u see your wireless network name which was previously added then click on properties and put a tick on the check box which says
"connect even if not broadcasting"

also pls do check to see if there are any access restrictions like if you have enabled MAC ID recognition on the router

have you checked on the laptops if you would require any DNS server settings or Proxy which can be gotten from your ISP

cheers
pls rate if this was any help

Belkin Pre-N Wifi - Speed problem

Hi,

When using a laptop that has a N-wireless card the computer will to connect to a G-wireless router the laptop will be able to connect but because the router is a G-wireless the speeds will not be as fast. speeds around 10 to 20 Mbps is about normal. I don't know why your computer is saying that you are getting speeds around 108 Mbps. Residential computers don't reach speeds that fast but some business computers running off of an T-3 internet will have speeds up to that high so that they can keep up with large amount of data being transferred over there networks. As for the USB, i have seen an USB adapter that was g-wireless at at Wal-mart for about $20-30.

Wireless shows connection, but will not connect.

This kind of problem occur due to dhcp disable in the wireless router for the security purpose. So try to give the ip adress manually by right clicking on the wireless and give the ip adress of the same range in which your network in working e.g 192.168.1.0 is the range of your ip addresses so please select the ip which is not been used by any other computer and than in default gateway enter the ip address of you wireless router and you will be able to access the internet on your system.
