The proper solution is to connect both devices to the television using an HDMI switch. Go to amazon dot com, search for "hdmi switch", filter the search to keep only 4-5 star rated devices, and then select one with more than 100 ratings (to keep them honest). They come in manual (button on hdmi switch) or remote (hdmi switch has a remote control). I've heard good things about Etekcity and J-Tech devices.
Regarding Chi Chu's suggestion: you will lose the 1080p signal using the S-Video / Composite signals; those are strictly 480i interfaces. Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_connectors
Plug Cable box into Blue ray and run Hdmi to TV
Component video is the same HD quality as HDMI. If your TV and one of the sources both have those connections, use them.
Component video uses green, blue and red, and audio red and white.
Component is NOT same as HDMI by at least two orders of magnitude. Sheesh. Do your homework before you try to answer technical questions.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vi...

Don't used the Blu Ray player on the tv HDMI out put hub.Used the connections for of the Blu Ray player connections by a S-Video cable for the video and the RCA component cable R,W for the connections for the audio out.The high Def.cable box will not work for high Def. this way,but the Blu Ray player will.
