Power problem for phillips 42 plasma 42pf7321d/37

My tv is just over 1 years old. I believe the power board has gone out but seeking advice. I opened up the back and on the power board far left side above the word "buffer" there is the chip that stands up and that led light blinks 3 times at an interval of one blink per second followed by a 3 second pause. what does this mean. I am not an electrician but know how to change a board if that is the only problem. Thank you for any help you can offer

The front of the tv used to blink 4 times red and on philips website it had a fix for this problem by updating the software/firmware. I downloaded and installed into TV usb port. The only thing this did was take care of the blinking LED on the front. The back power board led light blinks 3 times now which means vscan according to alarm sig under the chip. When someone on here said to unplug the cable and see if power stays on, that is what I did and power board, board with all the AV inputs, and the board under it(think the logic board). With that cable plugged in, the power goes on the entire tv. So what else needs to be trouble shot.

That blink don't mean nothing. Measurements need to be made. Don't just buy the board troble shooting would need to be done to see witch board is bad. Also look on the fron of the set and see how many time the led flashes. That wher your error code comes from..

My 42 lcd phillips tv colur turns red and zig zag lines then turns itself off why is it doing this

You are not the only one I can tell you that. I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

I have a Phillips 42in plasma 42PF7321D/37 when you turn tv on green light lights up you have sound and picture flickers a few times and then picture is fine and looks great. Noticed menus are hard to see...

I would certainly say the problem is in your power supply. Chances are real good that two capacitors are bad! You will have to remove the back cover...this is tedious and requires patience. You will be concerned with the board on the left side. You will have to remove the screws on the power board to lift it and see the top of this board. You should see at least one bulged capacitor. Replace, and you can bet the other next to it is bad. And another note..there may be a small cap at about 16volts at 10Mf that needs attention. These are clues and should help with repairs! Thanks for asking.

No power to my Phillips 42 inch Plasma 42pf7321d/37, just a red blinking light

Most likely it going to be a power supply related problem. The red blinking light is a code for a TV tech to diagnose the problem on the power supply board itself or the board that regulates the power for the screen. Some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board. A TV repair shop should be able to look at it for you and tell you which board is bad.
Replacement boards can be found at a good price at Shopjimmy.com

Phillips ssb

It is pretty much a plug and play. It is more time consuming than any degree of difficulty.
You must make a strong mental note of where each screw goes.
Simply disconnect the Molex connectors and the screws on the Signal Board; you're pretty much reverse the process. No cutting or soldering is required!

Checking voltage on 42 in philips plasma

You're right. The YSUS board is gone. And most likely the Y SCAN UPPER & Y SCAN LOWER boards also gone. You need to replace these 3 boards. The original boards are from Samsung and you can get them from Samsung. The three boards may cost you US$400 more.
