This model Rolex has been manufactured over multiple years, and it is not possible to date your watch based purely on is model number. However, it is possible to date most Rolexes based on their serial numbers, which can be found stamped between the lower lugs (i.e., the lugs below 6:00 on the watch dial). You will need to remove the band from these lugs to read the serial number.

Dating the watch case of a Rolex does not necessarily date the entire watch. It is possible that a movement from another watch was placed into a watch case that is younger or older than the the movement. Like Rolex watch cases, Rolex movements can also be dated by their serial numbers, if this is a concern you have about this particular watch.

This jeweler has put together a nice summary of when Rolex watch models were introduced and which serial numbers are associated with specific years of manufacture. Once you have found your serial number, this should help you date your watch. I have no connection (financial or otherwise) with this web site, but I found the information useful and presented in an easy to understand way.

Hi hello can I asked here...I have a watch Rolex oyster perpetual datejust Geneva 18k

The simplest way to find out is to take it to a Rolex specialist repairer and ask them to look at it. They will know what small clues to look for to find out. Some of the clues could be inside the watch on the inside mechanism so a watch repairer will have the tools to open it correctly.

How to set the time and date to my rolex, and if under number 6 when you remove bracelet i don't have number that means is a fake?

That number does correspond with a genuine Rolex. Stop Ina watch repair store where they actually do the work. I have not seen a knock off with a serial numbers or model number stamped between the case lugs.
Hope this helps.

My three-year old (real) Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady Date Just started losing time after just six months. It would stop and start intemittently and lose a few minutes every hour. Winding did no good. I...

It seems to me that the company servicing your timepiece (Rolex or otherwise) must have missed something or did not properly service your timepiece.

You are correct that your watch should not require service every ten months. After servicing, your Rolex, like most all automatics, should run properly for 3-5 years depending on environmental conditions. Our Rolex service offers a one year warranty, and if any issues present within that time, the service is free.

I would recommend using a company that has a full time Certified Master Horologist on staff to service your timepiece that offers a warranty on their work. Thanks for the rating, and we are happy to help you and service your Rolex.

My wife's Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch is running very slow. It was cleaned approx 7 years ago and seemed to run properly. I phoned the NY service center which quoted a $600 basic cleaning fee which seems...

Hi , I am sorry to say that a rolex requires servicing on a regular basis . Every 3 - 5 years would be advised . If you consider that your watch is a delicate machine that may be working 24 hours a day for years then its not unreasonable that it needs servicing. Over time the fine oils dry and degrade , they need replacing , and parts can become damaged .
As to cost , this is a skilled job . To service a rolex in the correct way requires not only skill ,but the correct tooling and equipment . Also the materials used must be genuine rolex , this is costly . Your accredited service centre will then provide a 2 year guarantee .
All in all the price of $600.00 reflects the labour of a skilled man and his investment in gaining rolex status .
There will be cheaper alternatives but beware as they will probably not be rolex trained and wont be using original materials .

Rolex oyster perpetual datejust time/date setting instructions

Depending on how old the watch is, It may be quick set or older models are not quick set. In older models you need to unscrew the crown, pull out the crown and rotate the crown to set the time, and in order to set the date rotate the hour hand past 12 twice in order for the date to change. Set the date first and then set the hour and min. For quick set models unscrew the crown and pull it out to the fist click this position you can "quickly" set the date by rotating the crown. Set the date and then pull out the crown to the second position out. Rotate the crown to set the hour and min. Then push the crown back in and screw it down.
