It's possible that the new cartridge is defective.
Do you still have the old one? If so, put it back in and try printing.

I have a brother laser printer that prints one page fine, but subsequent pages fade to nothing. any solutions?

That sounds like maybe a printer cartridge problem. Perhaps the ink flow is not working properly.

HP Laserjet 1500 Color, Print out Blank

Hi devi960:
Pages print, but all
colors do not print or
the pages are
completely blank.
One of the print cartridges might be
low or empty.
Run an engine test and see if all four colors print. If
not all colors print, replace one or more of the print cartridges. If the
engine test is successful, replace the formatter.
If the printed pages are completely
blank, the file might have blank
pages.
Check the file to make sure that it does not contain blank pages.
A print cartridge might be low or
empty.
Check the printer control panel for a Supplies Status message,
print a Supplies Status page, or use the embedded Web server
(HP color LaserJet 2500 series printers only) to see the levels
remaining in the print cartridges. Replace any print cartridges that
are low or empty. Messages are not created for non-HP print
cartridges.
If you are using non-HP print
cartridges, one or more print
cartridges are low or empty. The
control panel lights do not indicate
low or empty for non-HP print
cartridges.
Replace one or more of the print cartridges.
Font DIMM might be selected but the
font DIMM is not physically installed in
the printer. (This issue applies only to
HP color LaserJet 2500 series
printers using an Asian-language font
DIMM.)
In the settings for this printer, clear the Font DIMM check box on
the Configure tab if no font DIMM is installed in the printer. Select
the Font DIMM check box only if the font DIMM is physically
installed in the printer. If you think that the font DIMM is installed,
make sure that it is installed correctly.
The paper curls when
exiting the top output
bin.
The paper needs to print to the
straight-through paper path.
Open the rear output door to print to the straight-through paper
path. Remove each sheet as it exits the printer.
The stack was slightly curled when it
was placed in the tray.
Turn the stack over in the tray.
The paper does not meet
specifications.
See the user guide for information about print-media specifications.
If you are printing on light media, the
Type setting might not be correct.
Select Light in the Type is field in the printer driver.

HP 2605dn laser - color fading

HP has a list of troubleshooting steps you can go through for the HP 2605dn when you experience print quality issues.

Two specific things I would try from that list are:
  1. Clean the electrostatic transfer belt.
  2. Clean the printer paper path.
Good Luck!

Poor Print Quality

I would start by changing the paper or even leave the paper in the son for a while. Paper usually gets damp, espesially durint the evening and then using it early in the moring. If this do not work you will have to change the cartridge.

This can cause print-quality problems during printing. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems. Use the following steps to clean the paper path and print-cartridge areas: 1. Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. 2. Open the top cover. Figure 1: Top cover opened example 3. Remove the print cartridge. Figure 2: Print cartridge removed example CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes.Be careful not to touch the transfer roller (the black, rubber roller located underneath the print cartridge). Skin oils on the roller can cause print-quality problems. 4. With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe any residue from the paper path area and the print cartridge cavity. Make sure not to touch the transfer roller with fingers, as the oil can contaminate the roller, resulting in print quality defects. Figure 3: Paper path area and print cartridge cavity example 5. Accumulation of toner and particles can cause specks to appear on the front or back side of print jobs. To ensure optimum print quality, HP recommends using the cleaning page every time that the print cartridge is replaced or on an automatic pre-established interval. The cleaning procedure takes about 2.5 minutes to complete. A message (either CREATING CLEANING PAGE or CLEANING) appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. NOTE: Use plain paper to print the cleaning page. Please note that this is a two-step process. First print out the cleaning page using the following directions, then follow the directions on the cleaning page itself to reinsert it back into the printer to perform the cleaning. Use the following steps to run the cleaning page: 1. If the printer model includes a duplexer, open the rear output bin. 2. Press example(Select button) to open the menus. 3. Laser Printer

When the paper is fresh out of the printer, does the ink that looks okay smudge if you rub it with your finger? If so, it means the fuser is going bad. Otherwise, it's probably a bad toner cartridge that's leaking toner onto the paper.
