Hello;
I have an similar LC30HV2U for sale in my TV repair shop for $350.
This is a 2 piece unit. The AV box and the monitor. I am also a Sharp
authorized servicer. In the monitor there are 2 inverter boards on the
right side that have an 80 % chance of causing this problem. This set
counts "lamp
errors" due to one or more inverters not working on startup. Once the
set accumulates 5 lamp errors, It will not allow the set to come on.
The first thing Sharp tells us is to replace both inverter boards. About
$90 each. If those don't fix it the cost will go much higher due to a bad power supply board or bad LCD Panel. Hope
this helps, John
Call Sharp for warrenty repair.This problem very common in Sharp tv.Picture will come on turn power on/off button few times will work.But still under Wareenty call to Sharp to replaced the main Tuner Signal board.
Check for a backlight failure by holding a flashlight on the screen at about a 30-degree angle, a couple of inches from the screen. Look at the area around the flashlight beam. If you see video, either your backlight fluorescent tubes are burned out or the inverter has gone bad. If you need tubes, search for "CCFL replacement" (CCFL = cold cathode fluorescent lamp").
If the blinking light seems to be blinking in a pattern, then it is an error code. The end result in any case, is the main power supply is not functioning properly, or the backlight power supply has a problem.
I am a Sharp servicing technician and I have seen this "problem" with this particular model many times. I have tried replacing the Main Board and the Terminal Board and it does not help. The reason i put "problem" in quotes is because I came to the conclusion that this is model is just not that loud. However, a few months after the initial production run, BAM, these TV's are as loud as any other TV on the market so sharp must have caught onto this.
