Question about Frigidaire FTF530FS Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a Frigidaire FTF530FS washer which is new. Before it has even finished one wash, it stopped spinning or agitating. The timer motor seems to run (i can see it running during certain stages of the cycle), but the timer does not seem to move through the cycle on its own. I tested the signal control board and got the following: On 6-pin plug, voltage 120V between pins 5 and 6 Between 6-pin plug & 10 ping plug: Pin 5 (6-pin) and Pin 1 (pink/blackwhite) (10-pin): 120V Pin 5 (6-pin) and Pin 10 (brown) (10-pin): 0V Pin 5 (6-pin) and Pin 2: 120V Pin 5 (6-pin) and Pin 6: 120V From the wiring diagram, it seems I have incorrect voltage on Pin 1 and Pin 10. It tells me to check the timer contacts - Pin 1 should be open, and Pin 10 closed, but I am not sure how to do that, and what stage of cycle machine should be at. On what I think is the timer plug, when I read the voltage between the black-yellow wire and the pink/white and brown wires (and the other two!), I get 120V at certain stages of the cycle, and zero at others. Please advise.

SOURCE: I have a Frigidaire FTF530FS washer which is new.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If it is a brand new washer then it's better to get this repaired under warranty. The problem is with the door lock assembly that is bad and needs replacement. The drain filter pump assembly located inside the bottom front access panel seems clean, timer motor seems to be working fine. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a Frigidaire FTF530FS washer with a problem. The Timer gets stuck in between the drain and the spin cycle. It occurs when the timer dial is about 3 o'clock. I replaced the drain pump, the door...

Good Morning kvojik, thanks for your post!

From my understanding your Frigidaire front load washer is getting stuck between the drain and spin cycle. I noticed that you have replaced many components within your washer and continue to experience this issue. I would not advise to manually advance any part of the washer because this could cause issues within your washer. It could be a potential issue with the motor. At this point you may want to reach out to a technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help you to avoid any further part purchases. -Matt

Timer Stops Cycle

That depends. Is the machine only stopping during the spin cycle? If it has a water pressure backwash censor then you might need to take a look at the plumbing for water leaving the machine. If it does not have this problem, I recommend replacing the timer assembly again.

Broken shocks

the bearing may have failed on the tub-this may even have caused the shock to fail-the motor can't start the tub because there's to much restriction-cheers Denny

My Frigidaire front loader washer drum will not turn or agitate but will fill water and drain water, what is the problem?

Hello acoach194 - If the washer is not agitating try the following steps:

1) Verify a circuit breaker isn't tripped

2) Advance the timer control dial slowly 360 degrees-

If the washer starts spinning, then the motor and drive belt are fine but that there is something wrong with either the timer control dial or the agitator solenoid. Call in a professional for this. If the washer doesn't budge, then verify that the drive belt(s) is attached and not broken by removing the back panel. If the belt is broken, then it will need to be replaced. If it is loose, then it will need to be tightened. A professional will need to do so by loosening up the bolt holding the motor and moving it on its swingarm (much like a car alternator) until there is a 1/2 to 3/4 inch deflection in the belt.
Some washers use reversing motors. It's possible the motor works on the spin cycle but not on the wash cycle. If so, once again call a pro.

3) Visually inspect the lid safety switch- Is it loose or cracked? If so, the washer might work intermittently, stopping at different cycles.

4) Check motor and drive belt- Remove the main access panel (usually in the back). Is the motor spinning, but the drive belt isn't? If so, then you have a drive belt problem.

Washer will fill with water but then it will not agitate the the clothes. the drum will not spin anywhere I turn the knob. I tried changing the timer but it did not cure the problem. Could it be the motor...

It could be the motor, I can't tell with out testing it, but have you made sure the door lock mechanism is working? This will prevent the washer from agitating or spinning as well. It is a safety feature and if the lock is not made then no go! Most likely it is the door latch and not the motor burt you can test the motor either wityh a test cord to provide power to it or Ohm it out with an ohm meter. You can google how to test a motor and find the directions for that.

Washer bounces when spin starts and seems nosie

If it is brand new are the transit bolts removed? try spin with nothing in it and see if it turns smoothly, if not there is something broken inside, id spins smoothly it will be a fault in the dampers.

If under warranty get a tech out there and have him check the control panel, clutch, and motor control board. If not under warranty its probably the clutch...they are made of plastic and will break....if the tube spins freely its the clutch. But those electrical boards do go out.

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......
