Which light is red? If its the lamp light thats solid red then the lamp or power board has an issue especially if you get a 34 error when performing the self diagnosis feature with the front panel buttons when the set shuts down.

We're not getting any sound from the dvd's. I have two cables (green/blue/red) and (red/white). but I'm at a loss how to connect from DVD to TV. Help please!

If your TV has the green, blue, red inputs then connect these 3 cables for the picture. DVD to TV, green to green, blue to blue and red to red. If your TV only has a yellow input, then connect the green cable only from the DVD yellow to the TV yellow. Now for the sound. Connect the DVD white to the TV white. Connect the DVD red to the TV red with the red cable. The white and red inputs will be next to the yellow and the green, blue, red inputs on the TV. Next select the TV input using your TV remote. Select the input for the DVD connection.

TV won't stay on

One of two things can be the problem...one the bulb is bad...two the ballast is bad. If the bulb is not bad then the ballast is...it can usually be fixed by replacing a resistor on the board itself...it is labeled R3 and is a 1000 ohm resistor

Will not turn back on

Take off back cover. The problem power board is to the right of the board where the power plug feeds into the TV. There is a large white fuse right bend the power plug. With a meter it read ok; about 8 inches deeper into the TV on that board was the resister next to two fuses. My 4 amp 125 volt fuse did not read on my meter. After replacing, it worked fine.
