DCC-1200 Coffee Maker

Problem #1 - DCC-1200 makes steam - not coffee. Reason: the check valve is plugged - water will not flow.<br /><br />Solution #1 - Remove the check valve located inside one of the 2 silicon tubing hoses inside the coffee maker...and clean the valve. You must remove the bottom of the coffee maker (problem #3). Note: the check valve is not plugged due to hard water minerals. It plugs up from coffee grounds and coffee residue. Thus...use the charcoal filter, and clean with 50% white vinegar on a regular basis.<br /><br />Problem #2 - Removing the check valve located inside the tubing. You must cut it out and thereby destroy the tubing. Replacement is required.<br /><br />Solution #2 - purchase one foot of 3/8" SILICON tubing over the Internet from Rebel Brewer at <a href="http://www.rebelbrewer.com">www.rebelbrewer.com</a>. Silicon is required to handle the high temperature.<br /><br />Problem #3 - removing the bottom plate. It is secured with four "custom" torex screws that cannot be removed with a normal torex tool. (not designed to be easily removed). <br /><br />Solution #3 - I used a 1/4" drill bit and drilled off the heads of the screws. The bottom is easily removed. I was able to snap it back into place. You can use some silicon caulk at the 4 corners for a more secure fitting.<br /><br />Good Luck - not too difficult<br /><br />Camanokid
