I got an Everest Online University laptop from a pawn shop, I wiped the hard drive and re-installed windows, the white screen came back, I installed a Linux Operating System (Ultimate Edition 3.0) and the Everest Block was unable to work, problem solved, never saw the problem ever again on that computer.
What do really mean by freeze? Like lock your account? Is that your personal or school one? Give me more detail so that I can help you. Thanks
I had the same issue, once connected to the internet the computer blocks (everthing) and stays on a white screen saying this laptop has been froze by Everest college, you must contact the school. My Computer is paid for but they are holding my laptop hostage to discuss my old tuition.
The laptop starts fine and everything, as soon as it does start, white screen pops up and it reads that the laptop has been locked by EVEREST COLLEGE ONLINE, PHOENIX... Mouse still can move across the screen but I can not get rid of this damn screen at all... Please Help if you can.
Thank you
No one answered this did anyone come up with a fix
Add a CommentYou have to take Microsoft OS off your laptop. a friend of mine uninstalled it and installed Ubantu (http://www.ubuntu.com/) and she can use it now.
If I were to install Ubuntu and then go back to Windows, would it lock again?
Also, If I can get into the BIOS, what setting would I need to change to get rid of the lock?
Yes it would lock again. Source: experience with a Stevens-Henager Laptop here in UTAH

Yes. Linux is a certain fix. I installed windows xp and everything was going alright, but then I wanted everything to be up to date so I installed all the security updates etc from windows update, and soon after that the white screen of all consuming death showed up, so I am assuming that one of the security updates holds the code to lock it out, well to BE locked out anyways.
For those of you that don't know exactly what it is, it locks out everything on the desktop, and no shortcuts work. It says

I ran into this a few years back. I bought a dead laptop on craigslist with a bad hard drive. replaced the hard drive, reloaded windows, started getting all these everest university popups... then that hard drive was ruined!!! wtf!!! It turns out this laptop is a old one from everest and they have some custom security crao built into the bios of the motherboard. even updating the bios did not get rid of it!!
Even though your virus blocker may not like it, download spyvision 1.5 I am telling you, it frickin works. after installing hard drive#3 and reloading windows i tried spyvision. I downloaded that last year, ran its little scanner that found the tracking system and disabled it. Its been going strong ever since. im on that laptop now!!!

Flash the motherboard bios and then replace your Hard Drive. The hard drive has a hidden partition that is not detectable. but pro set to log on to the site server automatically. when online.
yeah thats what i have come up with as well bc just replacing the hard drive dont work it will still relock as soon as ur online also aside from so distro of linux if you do a google search for installing OSX on HP probook there are all sorts of guides and programs that makes the process almost as easy as installing windows or linux

Yea, it happened to me too. It turns out, that i didnt pay for the laptop. I guess it's free to use but if you drop (like me) they freeze it and want it back. I took it to a repair shop, they said there is no way around it. sucks.
Run Linux on it!
There is a way its locked due to the software LoJack for computers.
Micheleerica. How do you run Linux on it if its locked and u cannot get into the laptop... Need more details
