My mother says she never got a manual for her Kenmore sewing machine. She says it's a small machine, with the letters ABS7 on it. Where can she find the serial number (or model number)?
Thank you!

Betcha there is a small battery inside that helps maintain the computer's ROM. Since this is a sears machine call Sears/Kenmore parts and see what they can offer you in the way of help.
Which sewing machine make and model do you have? Singer has some manuals available for download and others for sale here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals . Enter the model number (excluding any letters at the end of the model number) and then click Search. Singer also has White sewing machines.
Sewing machines from other manufacturers will often be available from the authorized dealers or from online sewing machine stores. (We recently got a manual for a old Bernina serger from the dealer for a small fee.)
If you add a comment with the make and model, I'll try to provide additional information. (Unfortunately some sewing machines do not have manuals available online. Euro-pro is one of them.)
Hi Vicki It's possible that the needle is too small for the size of thread you are using. Also make sure thread is not wrapped around the needle and that the needle is properly seated in the needle bar. It's also possible that the machine needs to be timed and serviced to correct this problem. Is it possible to get the users manual from your MIL? It would have the information you need reguarding needle sizes and threading, etc. ~<Ray>~
