    A TOSHIBA MOTHERBOARD V000108690 FOR A A215-S7462 LAPTOP.

  • ncdirts Jun 16, 2011

i dont think that manual has the specs of the motherboard. part # V000108690. i am trying to find the jumper to reset the bios and cmos battery.

  • ncdirts Jun 16, 2011

i see the motherboard diagram but cannot tell the location of the jumper.. i tried jumping out the b500 bios jumber in under the memory modules but am now wanting to reset the cmos. Any suggestions?

  • ncdirts Jun 16, 2011

i think thats what i was talking about with the b500 jumper. it shows it herehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCPdsF0Hj... I will try the article from kerneltrap but the lables forr the jumper locations are different. it saying it will be labled c88 and i see c995 and c993 in under the wireless card. i am trying to reset everything because windows downloaded an update that flashed the bios but in the middle of the install the neighborhood lost power and now no computer. i hate bios issues like this. Maybe also the article that said to disconnect everything for 48 hours.

  • ncdirts Jun 16, 2011

I think that the j4 option is what i was talking about earlier labled b500. I found it at www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCPdsF0HjkY. The second article about jumping out c88 in under the wireless card might work but the only thing I see is labled c995 and c993 that matches what is talked about.

Windows downloaded and tried to install a bios update on this computer and in the middle of the install the whole block lost power. So, the bios did not get flashed correctly. After jumping out the bios in under the memory module, the computer now comes on for a min. reads the cdrom drive and restarts itself. I have no screen, just the sound of the drive. So that why im thinking if I can clear the cmos then maybe I can get this thing running again with a fresh bios flash done manually and not by windows. Thats why I have my computers set to get the updates put not to install them. I hate bios issues like this.

I was trying to find the manual or schamatic for the motherboard. Toshiba board with part # 1310A2127109 on the board. After researching that # I found that it changed to V000108690. Windows tried to update the bios and the power to this neighborhood went out. So, the bios was being fashed and didn't get finished. GREAT WINDOWS. I never set my own computers to install new updates before I look over them. I tried to put a jumper on the contacts labled B500 like explained in this link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCPdsF0Hj..., to reset the bios. Next, I unsoldered the CMOS battery and went and ate dinner and watched the baby for a while. I soldered it back in and, still, when u hit the power button the unit comes on for a few seconds, you can hear the cdrom drive spin real quick and then the unit restarts itself. It goes through the same process 3 or 4 times before it finally shuts all the way down. There is no display and I tried to force it to boot to cdrom with the bios update but nothing.

The laptop is Toshiba Satellite A215-S7462 UNIT

    MODEL NO: PSAFGU-00H002

    SERIAL NO: 97209262Q

I was hoping that I could get the bios and cmos to reset and then just run the bios update mannually. I just wasn't sure of the location of the jumpers. If you can provide any insight I would appreciate it.

Right now, the computer just comes on for a few seconds, never showing the toshiba logo screen, and restarts itself about 4 times and then shuts down. Any suggestions?

I would like to know the location to use a jumper for the BIOS and the CMOS. Apparently, the BIOS was being flashed and the neighborhood lost power. The computer did not have its battery pack so bye bye. I was trying to reset the BIOS with the B500 and noticed that it was only for the BIOS password later. I also took the CMOS mattery out and let it sit for a while trying to get it and the BIOS to reset. Is there another jumper that I can try? I dont mind ordering another BIOS, Im just trying to get it up and going for the mean time.

just got off the phone with toshiba and they said there is no BIOS replacement only a new motherboard. So, I would appreciate any insight if there is anything I can do.

Dell d340. need to enter admin password in bios to reorder boot sequence to accept usb first - its locked and i cant remember password. tried removing cmos battery and replacing but no good. help!

Try the backdoor password Dell

With a PSWD Reset Jumper Step 1Open the access panel to the password reset jumper if your Dell laptop has one. Consult your manual for the access panel's location. Some access panels have a tab you slide, while others are held in place with a screw.
Step 2Pry the plastic cover off the reset jumper with your fingernail. The reset jumper is a small pin port labeled "PSWD" with three pins. Put the plastic back onto the jumper over pin 1 and 2 instead of 2 and 3. Wait 90 seconds.
Step 3Pry the plastic off the reset jumper again and place it back onto the number 2 and 3 pins. Turn the laptop on. Repeat step 2 if the password is still present. Leave the plastic clip on pins 1 and 2 for a longer duration than last time.

Without a PSWD Reset Jumper Step 1Locate the reserve battery, also known as the CMOS battery, if your Dell laptop is not equipped with a password reset jumper. The CMOS battery's location varies among Dell laptop models. Consult your manual for the battery's location on your specific Dell laptop model. Many Dell reserve batteries are located underneath the main laptop battery. Remove the main battery and look for a sticker under it with instructions on removing the secondary CMOS battery.
Step 2Remove your Dell's reserve battery per the instruction manual or sticker located under the main battery. Removing the reserve battery resets the laptop's BIOS password. Wait 90 seconds, then replace the reserve battery. Reconnect the main battery.
Step 3Press the "Power" button to turn the laptop on.

IBM x3550 Server

Hello,

You will need to remove the cover and locate the jumper that controls your BIOS setting. (Sometimes located near the back of the server board by the power supply. Check your owners manual for exact location.)

Move the jumper the BIOS reset, power on your server and follow the onscreen instructions. When complete, move the BIOS jumper back to regular position (1 and 2) and reboot.

"Reset you're cmos/bios jumper to

HI,
No need to worry. There are many known ways to reset / remove / bypass the password:
  • By removing the CMOS battery
  • By using the motherboard jumper
  • By using MS DOS command
  • By using software
  • By using Backdoor BIOS password
Now I'll try to explain each method one by one:
A. By Removing the CMOS Battery:
xrojer_2.jpg
Almost all motherboards use a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.
If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

B. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

C. By Using MS DOS Command:
This method works only if you have access to the system when its turned on because this method requires MS DOS. Open Command Prompt from Programs menu and provide following commands one bye one:
debug
o 70 2E
o 71 FF
quit
NOTE: The first character in the above commands is "O" and not the number 0.
After providing the above commands, restart your system and it should reset the CMOS Settings along with the BIOS password.
If you are curious to know how it works? then let me explain the above commands:
In this method we are using the Debug tool of MS DOS. The "O" character present at first in these commands, outputs the values to IO ports. The number 70 and 71 are port numbers which are used to access CMOS memory. By providing FF value we are telling CMOS that there is an invalid checksum and it resets the CMOS settings as well as BIOS password.

In order to reset the bios you have to either locate the "Load bios defaults" from the bios menu or unplug the power cord, locate the small jumper near the cmos battery and move it to the alternative potition for some seconds. After this put the jumper at the original place again and start the pc. Note that if you start up the system with the cmos reset jumper at the reset potition, the motherboard will be destroyed. Sorry for not giving you more details but you didn't mentioned the motherboard's brand / model. I suggest you trying to locate the motherboard's manual for further details.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
