I have a problem with the door staying locked after the cylce has completed. I can not get my clothes out and this is very frustrating. I have ran the cycle a few times and eventually it may unlock> This does not happen every time but when it does, it has taken me 3 hours to get one load of clothes out! Is there some way I can unlock the door manually? Is this a common problem?

Most washing machines do not dry the clothes completely. Make sure that your clothes are evenly spaced & the weight is balanced to get the best spin speed. When the cycle is complete, you will need to put the clothes into a dryer or hang them up to get them completely dry.
If the machine didnt finish the cycle due to the pump being clogged the door will remained locked also if the lock mechanism went bad, the machine will stay locked. Remove the top of the machine by taking the screws from the top back out. Once removed look down the right hand side and you'll see the lock mechanism, usually with a plastic tab you pull to manually release the lock. On some machines it maybe be required and sometimes easier to remove the bottom kickplate and access the lock assembly from there
you could have problem with door lock. or lid switch. this part senses if the door is close. if it is not functioning, it would interpret it as an open door and will not spin.will not drain either.
did you try running a drain and spin cylce? there might be water in machine still and thats why door not unlocking..Assuming theres no water in machine( youcant see any waterline though glass) you can remove the bottom cover (3 torx 15 screws) UNPLUG UNIT. reach your hand up approx six in. on right inside face of unityoull find a manual release for the door lock assy, round tab mounted to bottom of latch assy approx size of a quarter, give it a pull and door will open, might be a fluke that it lock but i would check for operation before filling with close again
Potential reasons for it:
- Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure - In this case it should be replaced.
- Door Lock unit is broken or removed from the door.
- Look for disconnected wires to the door Lock/Switch unit.
- Door Lock/Switch unit Failure
First disconnect the machine power cable from the wall socket. You should remove machine's top cover and then you will have an access to the door lock unit.
