I'm a servicer unaware of the modification you spoke of. This set belongs to a friend of mine with the same symptoms. Warranty has expired as he did not hang it up for use til recently. Can you tell me technical procedure for the fix?

Since your unit is under warranty period, don't ever attempt to open the back panel because it will void the warranty. Give proper ventilation on the back panel, keep away all obstruction from the vent to allow sufficient air flow. This will avoid trigger the over heat temperature sensor from the processor which caused the subsequent shutdown. If the symptom still persist, inform LG service center that the symptom already got worst :-)

yeas you can i own on myself i take mine to radio shack in AZLE TEXAS our i have my cusin up grade mine with stuff but yeas you can also go to a game shop and ask then too
Most likely it is the LCD Panel causing this and it could get worse. The only fix is to replace the LCD Panel and if it is out of warranty it would be too costly. We are talking replacement cost of $900.00 for the part its self.

This set has a modification that needs to be done. It will also start turning on by itself and changing channels rapidly.
It's two weeks old. Take it back to the Retailer or if that is not an option contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 to get a local servicer in your area.
