you could download and install an undelete program there are many of these which are totally free to use once you have finished just uninstall it or you could just leave it on your hard drive

http://majorgeeks.com/Free_File_Recovery_d6792.html
Free File Recovery is a small and easy to use application that will help you to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital cameradently deleted pre loaded files - clip_image001.gifmemory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted from your iPod, or by bugs, crashes and viruses!

here is another yould use if you have no luck with the first

http://majorgeeks.com/FreeUndelete_d4407.html
FreeUndelete restores deleted files, including those removed from Windows Recycle Bin. In case of accidental removal of files on a NTFS (1.0 and 2.0) (default for Windows Vista , XP, 2000 and NT), FAT32, FAT16 or FAT12 file systems this is the utility to help.
Supported file systems:
NTFS 1.0, NTFS 2.0, FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32
The recovered files are saved into a new user-selected location to prevent overwriting the deleted files on the original media. hope this helps

check your recycle bin first you might be able to restore them if you have not emptied it since the deletion of these files

I have a memorex travel drive 2GB and can not figure out how to use it

I'm assuming you're using Windows ... the Travel Drive is simply a USB storage device. If you boot up Windows, log on, then insert the drive, it will show up as an exra drive in "My Computer". You can start up Windows Explorer and drag and drop files onto the device for storage.

the portable vault programs that come with the USB type flash drives have no give and take, you can recover the drive by deleting the files.

for the password, you need to know it. but there is a way to get an unlimited number of tries. back up all the files to a folder on the hard drive, the program will refuse to run from there but that also means the counter isnt counting. run the original and atempt the passwords. when you think you have used the max tries then delete the files and restore from your back copy and continue trying.

Things to ponder before deleting

Rather then deleting them right away, try moving the "day the files were uploaded" to another drive. Then try accessing the files on your memorex. Do the files and folders open properly? There not corrupt? Has the memorex hdd drive recreated the folder you just moved? etc...

Once your satisfied that yes there are two copies then you could safely remove one.

Pre-Loaded Songs

I realize this post is very old, so I'm commenting for posterity's sake. I don't have this particular model, but I had the same problem with my MMP8568. I couldn't delete pre-loaded tracks from WMP or manually from My Computer. The only thing that worked for me was reformatting my device and deleting everything off of it and starting over.

Basically, I went to My Computer and right-clicked on the icon corresponding to my MP3 player. I selected Format from the options and it deleted everything, from my own songs that I loaded to the pre-loaded content. Then, I resynched my music.

I tried EVERYTHING, and this was the only method that worked for me. :/
