if you know any one who is Japanese or Chinese who speak English ask them ,if your a student ask some one in campus , or failing that go to google translate click translate Chinese to English or vice a versa .

Looking up in the manual might not be practical because you won't find the setting and language option if you have your device in Japanese.
I don't mean to sound funny but I would like to share a personal experience: I bought some time ago an mp3 player without manual and with an on-screen menu. After some use, form one moment to other, without any apparent reason, language reverted to "default" Chinese - with chinese characters. I could solve the problem with the help of the manager.of in my favorite Chinese restaurant.
SO FIND A FRIENDLY JAPANESE and ask if he or she can help you..

Probablty it has the English option in it's Settings menu but as it is in Japanese characters and in Japanes, you can't fin it. You should return it to site where you bought it so there someone who knows how the menu works, should reset it.
If you bought it by Internet, you should ask for detailed instructions from website. If you can't get a serious answer, do what I did. Some time ago I got an mp3 player in Chinese and no one knew how to reset it, so I took it to a Chinese Restaurant. So, take it to a Japanese owned busines and ask them the favor to set it to english

find settings (chinese = ??, japanese = ??)... then go to languages (chinese = ??, japanese = ??)... and change it back to English (Chinese ??, Japanese ??)

to change language press on the blue icon on the top of screen (the one with a wrench) and press the 6th icon, the one that has 4 stripes with an E, a chinese smbol, a japanese smbol and a korean symbol (will you be able to differ between those 4?)
