My HP LJ 2600n printer keeps jamming after it only prints 1/2 and only 1 or 2 colors print. When I pull out the paper, I see a message on my computer screen that says: Supply Memory Error on Black. Unable to Read System Data. Reinstall Supply. If error reappears contact support.
Do I need to change the pickup roller (is that what the black thing in the door you pull down called)? Thank you
It sounds like you are having two diffrent problems. I don't think they are associated with each other.
First, the memory supply error. The cartridges on this machine have a chip. The chip could very well be faulty causing this supply error message. Change the black cartridge and see if the message clears. if it dosen't then the antena that reads that chip needs to be replaced. I suspect the cartridge is the problem.
Second, the paper jams. This can be caused by a worn p/u roller as you mentioned. Sounds like the jam happens first then the error, based on your description.
The black thing you refer to on the door is called the "transfer belt assembly".

A supply memory error is the smart chip on the cartridge. It can also be a physically damaged or locked / froze catridge. In this case the machine is identifying the black cartridge. The first thing to do is replace the cartridge (black).
If it's missing or has a corrupted smart chip lots of weird errors can result but they will usually still direct you to the specific cartridge to replace. If it's a refilled or remanufactured cartridge I would HIGHLY suspect that is the issue.
To locate the smart chip to see if it has come loose, see the picture below:
It's the green little computer board in the picture. Make sure it hasn't come loose. Below is a close-up of the chip. If it is a remanufacture or refill it should look slightly different than shown in the picture as the picture shows an original HP chip. If it's the exact same and a refill, return the cartridge to your supplier.
Hope this helps you. If so hit it with a FIXYA. If not, try to get the printer to print a configuration page or error report and let me know the last couple errors shown by numbers. (Full numbers, like 10.10.1000 or 13.02.05.)
Cheers

Thank you for getting back to me!!
Holy **** those numbers are small! I had to get a co-worker to read them and she's not sure about them, but here are the possibilities:
736C1924
T38C1924
T36C1924
Let me know if I need to have her look again. Thanks! rk
Do you see this number on the cartridge:
Q6000A
I'll check it out at the office...
Some HP cartridges contain a chip on the cartridge. What the cartridge number on the black one?
