Is it a windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit operating system? You could first check by clicking the Windows orb>Computer>System Properties.

Check the printer setup configuration on the printer application. The scanner might not be set up properly.

You should be able to access the software for your printer by opening the CD in My Computer etc, and run the setup program.
