My TV had been working fine without a problem. I walked out of my room with the TV running one night and came back to no picture just the blue insignia light on. The Insignia Logo will be red, I then power it on and it goes blue like normal. I did the flash light test and did see picture on the screen. So I know it has something to do with the backlight or the inverter. Do you guys think it is a failed backlight inverter? Would this also cause the sound not work?
Thanks
If you've done the flash light test, it could be the inverter board became defective but it could also be that the power supply does not provide the +24VDC to the back light inverter board.
If you could do the +24VDC test using a voltmeter then we can say for sure that the back light inverter board is defective.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Both circuits are using independent voltages. The back inverter board uses +24VDC and the audio circuit uses 12VDC. If the 12VDC are missing, you will not have audio. If the voltage is there, then there's an audio amplifier IC failure.
There should be 2 pico fuses on the secondary side of the power supply circuit. One for the 24VDC and the other one for the 12VDC line.

The only thing that troubles me is the no sound part. Would a failed inverter board not allow sound?

Ok I found where the inverter board plugs into power supply. It was a 8 pin connector. The 8 pins were split into 2. The left side said 24V the other side said GND. I touched my multimeter positive to a pin on the 24V side and the negative to GND side and nothing. Could not find any voltage. Well now this could be a power supply unit problem.
