So I have a 50 Lg ( LG 50LN5700). There is still a picture however about every 3 seconds it goes from regular to blurry and repeats. There seem to be about 3 black lines across the top horizontally about 3...

To clarify, are the 3 black lines horizontal (left to right across entire width of screen)? or are the 3 black lines vertical (top to bottom across entire height of screen)?

Horizontal lines are almost always the result of a failed panel, and no board replacement will fix the issue.

Vertical lines such as you have described (only 3) are probably also a bad panel. If the black lines were evenly spaced in a repeating pattern, it could be a mainboard or TCONN board.

Has this panel been cracked? or perhaps cleaned recently with too much water or cleaning solvent that has gotten the screen wet?

You may have to sell the TV for parts.

Picture only in middle of screen

Sounds like vertical problems on your circuit board. Unless you have some electronics experience you'd better take it in for repair.

The inside of a tube TV contains high voltages even when off and unplugged.

ILO tv black screen on top black screen on bottom with only about a 4" picture screen in middle... can you help thanks jerry

Hello dacrewof6,

This sounds like your vertical section is malfunctioning. This can be caused by the vertical drive section which connects to the yoke transformers of your CRTs. I would suggest taking the set to a qualified repair shop and having them check the vertical section of the TV.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Black horizontal lines across bottom 1/3 of screen

This is due to vertical section failure. Change the vertical supply rectifier diode and supply filters. Then check zener diode leakage in pumpup circuit section. Also check any electrolytic capacitors leakage in vertical section. If it is old model tv change vertical height, vertical lenearity presets also. I hope given details useful to you.
