The power light does NOT go off and the TV will not turn on. I know the TV works because every once in a while I will plug it in and hit the switch and it turns on. I tried programing a remote and then tried turning it on and same thing, the red power ligt will not go off and the TV will not go on. Sorry to sound so simple but tried in simple terms to explain the problem.

I was watching my tv when my son hit the reset button on my surge protector..now my tv will not turn on. Any ideas?

Turn everything off, the tv the power and make sure the button is not active at the moment. Some surge protectors do come with a fuse but when you turn the surge protector back on itself make sure it is recieving power, there is usually a red light on the switch while recieving power. Then try again once you know there is power to it.

The main house RCD tripped yesterday and since this the tv has now stopped working due to possible power surge? I have changed the main plug fuse which I do not think had blown. When I turn the plug on,...

It a repairable tv,most of the times the power supply board got hit with big power surges to the tv.Power tripped, turn it back on the outlet give to much juice to the tv at once. This can cause the power supply board to go into protection mode and shutdown problems or dead all together.Tries a reset by unplug, replug the tv like an hour later. The tv now,it resetting back to the factory setting. The tv should work now. Not,than the tv power supply board is dead. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Akai LCT3285TA Television won't turn on

the problem is in the power supply(they know about it good luck fighting them)but there is good news.you can remove the power supply and replace electrolytic caps,EC18,EC19,EC20 all of them are 1000mf at16 volt use 1000mf at25 volt.you can also go to shopjimmy.com enter model number you will see power supply part number MLT169B
it will be cheaper for you to replace the caps, the board cost about $80.00 from them

50" philips won't power on. get the 4x red blink led light

i have fixed 3 of this tv, with that exact problem in the last 2 weeks, needs a power supply, you can try to unplug it again, plug it in, hit the power button, as soon as it turns green, unplug it again, after 15 seconds , plug it back in, if power doesnt turn on by itself, turn it on, if it turns red again, emediatily hit power again, may have to hit power a few times in a row, but most of the time you can get it to come on this way, once it is on, it should run ok, until you turn it back off, but not a fix, needs power board

Philips 42PF9956/37 Plasma TV - Looking for y sustain board

it isnt the Y-SUS board, it is the Power supply, iv fixed this exact problem twice in the last month, try turning the tv on, and when it turns green, unplug it real fast, while light is still green, after 15 seconds plug it back in, then hit the power button, if it dont come on, hit the power button again, this time, as soon as it turns off, hit the power button again to turn back on, sometimes you can trick the tv and it will turn on, at least i was able to do it, and once it comes on, it should work fine, untill you turn it off again.

Sony bravia tv

Solution is simple....

First, unplug power cable from the back of your TV. You will notice the flashing light is still flashing. Don't worry, go to the Second step.

Second, keep pressing on the POWER button, located on the panel at the top of your TV, to shut off your TV. This will stop the flashing light from appearing.

Third, Plug the power cable back onto your TV

Fourth, press the POWER botton ONCE, using the same button used in the Second step to turn your TV back on.

Fifth, you will see the POWER light comes on, as normal.

Sixth, using your remote control, press the green button to turn on. Your TV should work as normal.

Dell w3000 has green power on no video just audio only

Had same problem as described by others, green light, audio, but no picture. Decided to look inside. Layed the TV face down on three textbooks (1 at top & 1 at left & Right) so that back (9 large screws & 2 small screws) could be removed along with stand. From the power supply (board that 110v AC plugs into) there is a cable connected to a circuit board on the left (again looking from the back of the TV) covered by metal shielding. Unplug this cable clean the male contacts with a miniture wire brush (bought mine at Home Depot) & plug the cable back into the socket. With rubber gloves (just to be safe) plug the AC cord into the back of the TV & wall and turn on your TV. The bulbs should activate in 7 - 8 seconds. Reassemble the back of the TV & install the stand. Enjoy your TV Doug
