MY LG 42 INCH FLAT SCREEN TV IS ONLY GIVING A BLANK SCREEN,CANT GET TO MENU,every now and then it will give me prompt ,saying there is a problem with the hdmi but dont know how to fix it ,sometimes it wiil come on by its self,but picture only lasts a few minutes

It possibly could be a loose connection with a wire in the back. I would check all the connections.

First check the aspect ration in the menu, you also have a format button on the remote that does the same function, or your cable remote. If all is ok with remote and menu, then you might considering replacing the main board as the scaleing Chipo may be bad. Check to make sure picture size is set to full and not 4:9.

This sounds like a software problem. Have you tried updating the software for this TV. You can download from Internet, save it to a flash drive then plug in to TV. And update.

lcd broken, change LCD with new one

Change the hdd or remove it then connect it to PC and do for it format , it will work .

Ur Tuner board is dead.Replaced that board u will get video back.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com for that refurbish board part.

Take the back off with no power connected..You should have 2 invertor pcbs..one on the left and one on the right..well the side of the picture you cant see is the same side of the faulty invertor..replace this and this should solve the problem.it is the cheapest option..if not..im afraid is is a new LCD screen unless you are prepared to take it appart and replace backlight bulbs :)

a new screen is like a new tv $1000 - 1500 for a panel

check all inputs on tv ,also check if menu on tv is working ,make sure lines arent being produce by another source, cable box etcc..If menu and or OSD are affected .Then there is a good chance you have lightning damaged some where in signal section on tv .
