Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.
If these actions have not cured the problem, it could be the control board OR the main motor. Motors will show weaknesses when commanded to spin.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

How to change the hub seal of a top load speed queen wwashing machine . Model AWM 351W - 3062

You could try calling Speed Queen Support at 800 552 5475. They may be able to walk you through it or send you a document. I have used them as my SQ wasn't spinning up to high speed, so the cloths came out wetter and wouldn't dry in the dryer. I called them and they told me how to diagnose the problem. The cause was that the belt is loose and I'll need a new belt. Another guy told me it was the motor which was a much more expensive fix, and not something I believed..good thing. So give them a call.

Disable lid lock on a 2018 Speed Queen top loader washing machine

2018 Speed Queens did not have lid locks. The 2019 machines do. The lid lock can not be disabled. If the lid is stuck closed, you can, with 30 pounds of pressure, raise the lid without damaging the lock. (unlike any other machine on the market)

Fix agitator on a speed queen awm290

Is the drive belt in good condition?
Does the machine spin dry?
Is there water leaking from the bottom?
I suggest the gearbox needs to be replaced. Another sign is if the machine is noisy when it is washing (agitating)

My speed queen aem497w is 15 years old and quit drying recently, no heat ,drum spins as usual, vent is clear , what gives ? Dave from Canal Winchester,Ohio

Hi - I am not too familiar with Speed Queens, I work a lot on Maytags, however the principals are the same.

So here goes - there is most like to be an open circuit due to the following , bad/burnt wire or terminal somewhere close to the heat elements, open circuit on the two thermostats & the over-temp fixed close to the elements, the outside chance of the thermal fuse blown.

One would noramally gain access thru the front (Best) and often from the back, sorry I cannot guide you on this as stated earlier.

The washer quits at rinse and spin dry cycle

I've had the same experience with my Speed Queen washer. Approached the accredited Speed Queen agents for assistance, when tech support was deployed to diagnose the problem.
In the end, I was told that the "timer" went bust. So the wash cycle seems to work 100%, but when it comes to rinse and spin the contacts on the timer don't make contact, and the motor waits in anticipation for it's next command, and that the high pitch noise heard.

At start of spin cycle water splashes over top and runs down.

Hi, just fixed the daughters speed queen, same problem. The three brake shoes were worn allowing the tub to spin with the agitator.
replaced the shoes, washer fine. At first I thought it was the top ring. spent 30 dollars for nothing.
good luck
