Main digital processor IC on the board has damaged. It is not a replaceable part, as normal soldering techniques cannot be applied to de-solder it out from the board, or to solder a new one in place. Card base replacement should be done.
HI:
This is a plasma unit and philips plasma's are nortorious for bad power supplys, your problem may very well be the power suppy in the television, it is possible you blew a low B+ fuse on the power supply. There is also a issue with the Y-sustain board failing in this model, If you open the back and looking at the unit from the rear the y board is on the left side of the unit and the PS is in the center. disconnect the Y-sustain power plug from the power supply and turn on the unit if the unit stays on with no red light then the y board is bad. it does the same then replace the Power Supply.
The tv power supply board is the causes and the problems. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
You either need this part (http://cgi.ebay.com/Philips-50PFP5332D-37-LJ92-01401-Buffer-Board-/150501144120?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230a913638) or this one depending on your dead screen issue (http://cgi.ebay.com/Philips-50PFP5332D-37-LJ41-04216A-X-SUS-XSUS-Board-/170550290208?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b596e720)
You may need to replace the Y-buffer to say the least. And if this is not the problem, you will need to replace theY-main board. If the Y-main board is bad you will also change the Y-buffer. Please see a Philips Tech!!!
My parents have a Philips 50PFP5332D/37 the blue indicator light is on but there is no picture or sound. Is there anything I can do to help them fix it outside of calling a tech. I can get parts and fix tvs but unfortunately I am in another state 7 hours aways.
