this does not tell me how to fix it? If I hit reset it dispenses the ice if not it does nothing. I want to know how to fix it or else this does me no good

  • Anonymous Jun 25, 2011

Your answer does not help at all. I want to know how to fix the problem. It does not dispense the ice unless I hit the reset and then it goes through it normal process. If you cant tell me how to fix it then I don't want to pay for it. You are only telling me what I already know. If you cant tell me how to fix it move me to someone who can or refund the charge. Totally dissatisfied.

Are you going to answer? Please refund our money and we will look for someone that wants to do what they are paid for.

I am not getting answers from the previous person for some reason? I have a Samsung RS2530 and the ice machine is not dropping ice unless I hit reset and then it goes through the process. How do you fix this promblem?

  • Anonymous Jun 25, 2011

How do you do that? Can you just replace the ice maker. What is the cost? Every appliance repair I have spoken with said it is easy and the part is less than $80?

  • Anonymous Jun 25, 2011

I dont think you understand me. The dispensers are fine. The water dispenser is fine. The ice does not drop. If I hit reset it will drop refill the water but then it does not drop again. Please dont waste your time or mine. I will contact Samsung tech support and find help there. Please refund my money Thank you

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Have you checked the internal temps of the freezer? The ice maker will freeze ice cubes below 32 F but... if the freezer does not reach 14 - 16 F it will NOT cycle at all. If there is a slow running or failed evaporator fan, ice on the evaporator coils (defrost problem), or a problem with the door / light switch it will NOT make ice.

I would download this manual: ( file name SAM0059.pdf ) See page 31 & 32
http://www.mediafire.com/?a3wx4cr10a9ikm6
This link wil take you thru at least 2 pages before giving you the option to download the 4.16 mb file.

Run the diagnostics on the refirgerator by pressing Power Cool and Power Freeze button for 8 seconds and then cycle thru the readouts. There is a legend for the CODE read outs on page 32 of the manual.

One final note... check the condensor coils in the back of the unit for massive amounts of lint build up. Clean as necessary. Usually if this area is dirty, the metal part of the chassis where the door gaskets close is VERY warm to the touch. This condition causes the freezer temp to rise far enough to stop the production of ice.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi,

In case the ice is not getting ejected and seems to be stuck in the ice maker, the defect lies in the ejector mechanism. Since the ice maker cannot eject the ice, you need to put it to the manual shut off mode, so that ice maker doesn't continue to make more ice. In such a scenario, you will need to shut off the power to the freezer for carrying out the repair, so if you are not comfortable with handling electrical appliances, you could seek professional help.

  • Anonymous Jun 25, 2011

To solve this problem, you need to check the ejector gear and motor for
any fault, and replace them if necessary. Also test the thermostat and
ice hold heater in your refrigerator as the problem could be because of
    these parts malfunctioning.

What is the ice hold heater?

Why is my Manitowoc SM50 ice not dropping?

Greetings,

when this occurs, please add some salt to the idea in order to stop the ice from sticking together as much. That's the temporary fix. For any other machine, I would think this was an oil issue. That's the parts that create the ice stop-up due to friction caused by a lack of oil. I'm guessing that every time you clean the machine, you decrease the friction between its parts due to the water/soap that you use, but then the oily soap residue gets used up, and the issue returns. Please test out my idea.

Thank you.

I Have ice-O-Matic How to fix the ice machine if it only drops ice one and sometimes it'll drop Ice when you turn it back on and then off again.

If your Ice-O-Matic ice machine is only dropping ice intermittently or inconsistently, there are a few potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the water supply: Ensure that the water supply to the ice machine is sufficient and that the water inlet valve is fully open. Inspect the water line for any kinks or blockages that could restrict water flow.
  2. Clean the condenser: A dirty condenser can affect the ice machine's performance. Clean the condenser coils using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove any dust or debris that may have accumulated.
  3. Check the water filter: If your ice machine is equipped with a water filter, check if it needs to be replaced or cleaned. A clogged or dirty water filter can hinder water flow and impact ice production.
  4. Inspect the harvest cycle: The ice machine's harvest cycle may be experiencing issues. Ensure that the harvest switch is functioning properly and that the control board is working correctly. Refer to the manufacturer's manual for instructions on troubleshooting the harvest cycle.
  5. Verify the ice thickness control: If the ice thickness control is not properly set, it may prevent ice from dropping consistently. Adjust the ice thickness control according to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the correct ice thickness for dropping.
  6. Check for sensor issues: Ice machines often have sensors that monitor ice levels, temperature, or other parameters. Make sure these sensors are clean and functioning correctly. If a sensor is malfunctioning, it may need to be replaced.

Icemaker is not working properly. It will only make ice after the reset button is pushed.

If the ice room is not getting/staying cold enough, the unit will not harvest the ice and proceed through the cycle... First step in troubleshooting is to determine if the compartment the icemaker sits in is cold enough, if it is, then you have to test the ice room temp. sensor to see if it is not sending the correct temp signal to the main board. These icemakers are modular and pretty much have to be replaced completely if the temperatures and sensor check OK. Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor DA32 10104N

What is the correct model number of your refrigerator? If the slots are empty try filling with tap water and once the water freezes and drops the ice and then does not refill with water that will point to the water control valve. If the ice maker does nothing it will be the ice maker that will need to be replaced. For the model JCD2389G uses the=> D7824706Q Ice Maker Assembly and the water control valve is=> 12001892 Water Inlet Valve I am here if you have questions....Sea Breeze

Ice maker not making ice

IF ice is in the cub slots and will not drop then the ice maker is at fault. If slots are dry fill with tap water and let freeze and if they drop and the water does not refill the tray then the dual water controil valve part=> WR57X10032 Dual Water Control Valve
Ice maker being electronic best to just get another if that's the problem=> WR30X10093

Ice maker has ice motor doen't dump the ice

Your ice-maker may need to be "hard-reset". To do this, perform a manual-defrost by emptying out the freezer (and fridge) and shutting all power off to your unit for several hours (at least half a day unless you can be sure the temp in the freezer has fully reached ambient. Next, with freezer empty, restore power, make sure the "ice" setting is set to off, then set the forced power-freeze mode (you can refill the fridge, but leave the freezer empty for now. When the power-freeze completes (at least 2.5 hours) you can refill the freezer, set the "ice" mode to block/crushed (IE something other than off) and then hit the "black reset button" to restart the ice-maker. IF it still will not dump the cubes then the ice sensor/control board may have failed.

Hoshizaki KM-900MAH Ice Maker it sounds like it is making ice and is freezing it but its not dropping ice any solutions?

Do you hear the machine cycling like normal but just not dropping? Could be the hot gas solenoid. If you never hear it trying to drop that could be anything from a dirty condenser to dirty plates to bad ice thickness control. Run some ice machine cleaner through it and blow the condenser out.

GE Bottom freezermakes little ice

The ice maker has a temperature sensor inside that lets the ice maker know its time to drop the ice and refill with water. That could be the problem or the water control valve for the ice maker is not opening when its called to refill the trays. I will try to help you, Sea Breeze
