Uninstalling other makers software may remove a system file which prevents installation of Coolpix drivers from the Nikon View v5.1 CD on Windows 98SE systems. It has been reported that, when connecting a Coolpix camera to a Windows 98SE machine, the hardware wizard will not recognize the appropriate driver; this setup fails because the file "IMAGEHLP.DLL" is missing from the system. Installation will stop with an error message which mentions this file. This problem may be caused by the earlier removal of another makers software from the operating system. To solve the problem, first disconnect the camera then follow these instructions to copy the appropriate file from the Win98SE CD back to the correct directory on your computer: Place the Win98SE CDROM in the CD-ROM drive. From the Start Menu select Run, type in SFC.EXE. Select "Extract a single file". Type in IMAGEHLP.DLL to the field provided. Click start. When the next dialogue box appears click "skip". This dialog box appears: Where e:\WIN98\ should be the Win98SE CD-ROM (your CD-ROM drive may use another letter other than "e"). Copy the file to the same destination shown and a screen will appear showing that "File has been successfully extracted". Next, remove the Win98SE CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive and replace the Nikon View 5 CD in the CD-ROM drive. Reconnect the camera. The hardware wizard should automatically detect the camera and install the driver from the Nikon View 5 CD.
