I can't scan with my Lexmark 2600m All-In-One Printer. I think there may be missing programs on the computer. When I press the scan button, nothing happens on the printer or the computer. It prints and copies, but nothing else.

Try scanning from Lexmark Printer Home. To do that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Lexmark Printer Home.

Please follow the steps below on how to scan using your Lexmark X2670 printer:

Using the printer control panel

1. Open the top cover, and then load an original document face down on the scanner glass.

2. Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned image.

3. Make sure that the printer is connected to a computer, and that both the printer and the computer are on.

4. From the printer control panel, press the scan button.

5. Follow the instructions on the computer screen.

Using Windows

1. Open the top cover, and then load an original document face down on the scanner glass.

2. Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned image.

3. Do one of the following:

• In Windows Vista, click > All Programs, and then select the printer program folder from the list.

• In Windows XP, click Start > Programs or All Programs, and then select the printer program folder from the list.

4. Click Lexmark Productivity Studio.

5. On the main screen, click Scan.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Using Macintosh

1. Open the top cover, and then load an original document face down on the scanner glass.

2. Close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned image.

3. From the Finder desktop, double-click the printer folder.

4. Double-click the 2600 Series Center.

5. From the "What is being scanned?" list, choose the type of document to be scanned.

6. Click Scan.

It's real easy, all you need to do is load the software that comes with your printer in your computer, once it's loaded. Put the picture facing down and go to your start button (left hand bottom side) click on it, go to programs, go to lexmark and click on Lexmark All-in-one Center. Once the window is open go to your right upper side and click on Preview Now. Your printer/scanner should be scanning the picture and this one will appear on the blank space, once it finished you can crop the picture as you desire and then click on the Scan Now button. That's it!
More easy: On the left hand side of your printer there are three buttons; power, copy and scan. Press Scan and the all in one Lexmark program will open and you will see the picture in your computer, crop it and press Scan.

On the printer operator panel, press Black to begin a black and white scan or Color to begin a color scan. You can rename the file only on your computer once the scanned file is displayed.

The only way I got my Lexmark to scan, was to install the CD that came with it. It installs a program called "Lexmark Imaging Studio". That's where the scan will be transferred to from the printer.
To scan: Press the Scan Mode button, and then the check mark in the middle of the buttons. Then to activate the scan, press Start Color or Start Black to start the scan. With the Imaging Program installed, it will automatically come up and display the scan, where you can scan more or save or print the scan. I have the X4530 Lexmark all-in-one, but the program should be the same, or similar. Good luck, hope this helps.

Generally there are two ways to scan.
1. Your printer has a management program which controls most operations. On a Lexmark, it is the Lexmark Imaging Studio. Select scan there.

2. Your document software, Word, Photoshop, etc, can start the scanner. Usually under File, look for Acquire....Import....Twain.... Your printer/scanner should be listed. Select and start scanning.

If all this fails, you may be missing a driver, get them from your printers MFG web site.

To scan a document, please follow the steps given below:

1. Go to "Start," "All Programs," Lexmark 4300 Series, "Lexmark All-in-One Center."
To see how an image will look after it is scanned, click "Preview Now."
2. Click "Scan," "Send scanned image to."
If scanning an image, choose a graphics program such as "Lexmark Photo Editor," "MS Paint," etc.
If you wish to "Scan to OCR," choose a text program such as "MS Word," "WordPad," etc.
Once the image is scanned, the "Abbyy OCR" software will open automatically.
3. To begin the scanning process, click "Scan Now."
4. To view the additional options, click "See More Scan Settings."
To indicate what type of image is being scanned, select the "Option" next to the type of object you are scanning. Your settings will be optimized for that object type.
To indicate how the scan will be used, select the relevant option from the menu. Your resolution and other settings will be optimized based on your selection.
5. To revert back to the normal All-in-One main page, click "Hide Extra Scan Settings."
6. Under "Display Advanced Scan Settings"; you can see change settings, which will affect the outcome of your scan.

Have you tried pressing the scan button (center button) on your 3-in-1 to see whether it is communicating with your computer? I typically just do that and it launches the program. Try that and see what happens...
