An E90 error indicates some sort of communication error between the two boards that control the washer. Usually it's a problem with the wiring. (At least for Electrolux and related washers, E90 is a communication error.)
You can try unplugging the washer overnight and then trying again. This resets the board. Otherwise, you need to open the washer and use an electrical contact cleaner. Check all the wiring for any corrosion or solder issues. This will be time consuming.
Alternatively, you could replace both control boards (usually comes a large fraction of the cost of a new washer when you add the repair man's time). You usually can't tell which of the two boards are bad so replacing just one frequently doesn't solve the problem.
I hope this helps.

(if you add a comment with the make and model of your washer, I'll check the parts cost/availability if they are at my usual sources.)
