Power doesn't have to be knocked out for a cable box to destroy the HDMI ports on a TV. Thunder miles away will put voltage spikes on the cable system which in turn trashes the main board in the TV. You can get parts for your TV here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy
Hi there!
One of reasons your tv not working, the thunder storm /lighting possibility has burnt your Tv micro processor. get a technician to check the power supply section too because during the thunder storm your TV circuitry received excessive voltage .
If is the main processor is burnt you have to change it for the TV to work .
Depending on your TV input/output, you can run your video components to TV via HDMI then run your audio out via digital optical, RCA, or other means to receiver. If you have more than one HDMI input on TV or, if you can use component for video to TV, you can then run audio to receiver. Video pass through to the receiver is not the best way to hook up your system. Let me know if this makes sense to you. Dave
could be electrical faults with the scart/HDMI lead. if your television has an ariel plugged in it be damaged by electrical currents, therfore a new scart lead or HDMI should do the trick
HDMI ports 5 and 6 on the back of tv no longer are working. (We had a series of thunder storms so don't know if that is how they got damaged or if it was something else) but moved HDMI input cable to HDMI port 4 on tv and everything is working again. Service call placed for warranty service on tv to repair bad ports.
I think you would be better having the set to repair shop. It might be not just those ports that has been affected. Modern devices are full of static sensitive parts and lighting is a bit more powerfull than mere static. It could also have comprimised safety features, to prevent fire; for instance. I would take it to a Pansonic service center to be fixed to be on the safe side.
