I was able to get into my apps after a few attempts to reboot seems when volume is all the way down during a reboot it initiates the safe mode. this can happen, im told for many, reasons. Even if your volume controls are working fine.dust etc. although I followed the directions listed above I cleared the htc sense cache then re*stareted and all loaded just fine. I just had too do a little rearanging to my apps on home page . so I am pleased I saved a service call
