I am trying to load Quickbooks 2005 Premier Contractor Edition on a new laptop running Windows 7. I get a message saying it is not compatible with 32bit 64bit. Also it says I need Flash Player 7. What is the solution?

2006 is too old to run on Win 8.1

1. From the QuickBooks Help menu, choose Update QuickBooks.
2. Click the Overview tab and click Update Now.
3. Select the desired downloads in the Update Now window.
4. Click Get Updates to download your selected updates.
5. When the Update Complete message appears, click Close.
6. From the File menu, choose Exit.
7. Start QuickBooks and click Yes to the message to install the update.

The following are some options:

• Try running the program in 'Compatibilty' mode: this option can be found via the context menu 'properties'.
• Install a 32 bit version of windows in a Virtual Machine and re-install this application: you can download the free VPC (Virtual PC) from Microsoft web site or VirtualBox from www.virtualbox.org (this is what I use on my W7 Ultimate 64 bits laptop as it has good USB device support).

You can't transfer the file without contacting Intuit and having them convert it to something that the Quick Start version understands. The quickstart version is not a full version of the software. Your file saved under the premiere version is. So they are not compatible. You can email Intuit from their website and tell them the business telephone number you registered the Premiere software under to recover your license and product number. Ask them to send you a link to download a new copy of Premiere. As long as you are a registered QuickBooks Customer you can always download your product for free if you have your license and product number. You will need both to activate the software once it has finished downloading.

Try running all the updates that are availible for Quickbooks 2009, I know there were quite a few bugs with Vista that the patches were supposed to take care of. Let me know if that helps.
