Question about Freezers

Water Dripping Inside

We have a Samsung American style fridge/freezer and 3 days ago we found large amount of water leaking from it, we opened the freezer door and found water at the bottom of the freezer, this fills up every 2-3 days then starts to leak, we put some kitchen roll down to absorb the water, but have to change this every 2-3 days once it becomes saturated

Can anyone help?

    Dear Neil

No air coming in from outside, the water is leaking into the freezer from the back of the freezer, there are these plastic grate openings inside at the back and water drops come in from there and then pool at the bottom.

Do you have any other ideas what it might be

    Kind Regards

Sounds like a blocked defrost drain. By "American" I presume you mean side-by-side.
I had a similar problem with a freezer-on-top style Samsung. The solution to that was to defrost the freezer, remove the false backing plate in the freezer (required removal of the ice cube tray. the panel just pops out with a bit of pulling). The drain hole beneath the freezer coils was blocked with ice. This drain passes down into the fridge and then out the back of the fridge into the evaporation pan next to the motor. There is a collector pan under the freezer coils, this and the drain hole were filled with ice. When the freezer goes into its self-defrost cycle the water collects here and then overflows into the fridge.
I removed the ice with hot water/vinegar mixture (so it doesn't re-freeze immediately) and simultaneosuly used a bit of chiselling with a screwdriver to clear the drain plug. I did this from inside the fridge working up the drain hole into the freezer. The whole job took about an hour.

    Hi Kdevlukia,
    Happy to help you!!

    How old is the unit?
If it is 10 years old or more it's not worth fixing becaue the new units use MUCH LESS ELECTRICITY!
If not then I think it is low on freon or a bad thermostat.
write me back the yearof it!

I would advise you on this occasion to call service.

Why is ice forming under the bottom drawer of my Samsung American fridge freezer Rsa1shpn and then water eventually leaking out the door? I have defrosted the fridge freezer but still have the problem

There is a drain tube located under the panel of most freezers. If that clogs up, the auto defrost can't work. The freezer defrosts by evaporating all the moisture out of the compartment. So, check that first. Secondly, a leaky door seal can also cause that problem. You can order door seals online or on Amazon.

THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE MAGNETIC SEAL AND THE FRIDGE COMPARTMENT, THE DOOR CAN BE LIFTED UP, IS THE A SPACER AVAILABLE TO FIT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR TO COMPENSATE THE GAP. THANKS Frank...

Good day,
Just go to your local appliance parts house. They will have the shims you will need. Remove the top bracket, open the door slightly, and lift the door off. Install the number of shims necessary, and reinstall.
If it has a cam style bracket that helps close the door, replace it as well. It just bolts on, once the door is removed.

We have bought a new american style fridge/freezer and it was delivered yesterday. We have left it on for 24 hours and the temperature is not going down the fridge wont go below 12 degrees and the freezer...

ambient temp 10/35 degrees C.not in direct sunlight,
did you use a level to make sure that it is level in all planes, just to make sure all the door seals are tight,
(look along the seals to make sure)the unit should be left on for at least 24 hours in its chosen position with the doors shut, then check temp,it could take another 12 hours to settle down once loaded. Also make sure that its not touching the wall cuts down on vibration.
once checked,if still not right call samsung..they are good.
