I purchased this tablet a couple of months ago specifically to take camping with me... However I have been at 2 campgrounds with wifi and am not able to connect ... we had a laptop with us and that connected with no problem... is there a problem with the tablet that prevents it from picking up a signal ? A solution?

There are many places that offer public WiFi access. Hospitals, libraries, restarurants...

Try connecting it with pressing the wps on your router and on your tablet select the wps

Factory reset the iPad, you will lose all of the data on it though. In theory, you should be able to connect it to a computer first and do a backup in iTunes but this will depend on the security settings on the iPad. Regardless, your purchases should be linked to the iTunes account that was being used so after a factory reset you should be able to reload your purchases.
