I was taking pictures of fireworks using my Kodak M580 when it suddenly froze up and would not take pictures or even turn off. Nothing on the camera worked. Finally the battery ran out. The lens is still out and the camera will not charge. HELP!!!

My work around for this is to take the media card from the camera and put it into my computer to copy/paste directly to a photo file of my choice. I find it faster as well.
Remove the 4 gb card and turn power on, go into menu and scroll down until you find the section on picture deletion, erase all data in the internal memory, turn power off and install your memory card should be good to go.
The problem is in the shutter itself, I would use it until it go's completely, it would cost as much if not more to have it repaired, chances are they would replace the whole lens housing.
I've checked in the manual and I don't think this camera has a date stamp feature on it. Other than that you can put the date on the image on your computer using a photo editing program like Photoshop. Hope this helps!

I copied this from Kodak website Good Luck! How do I transfer pictures from the internal memory of my KODAK Digital Camera to a memory card? Follow these steps:
On the camera, press Review and then Menu. Select Image Storage. Change to Internal Memory. In the menu listing, scroll down to Copy, and select OK. Select a single picture, or select All. When you have finished copying pictures, reset the Image Storage location to your original setting. NOTE: You can also use a card reader to transfer picture files to a memory card.
